Comments (9)The living room rug is to large for the sun room but I could use one of the other options (in the larger size) in the living room. How small can an area rug be? I thought the feet of all furniture are suppose to be on an area rug. Is it ok to have a small area rug in a large room? My living room is something like 20'x14" so I thought I would need at least a 9x12 or 10ft round for furniture placement. The round medallian rug only comes in a 6' or 8' round so I am not sure if the scale would work but the colors do and I could buy it in a large rectange tho. thanks for the ideas:) Should I treat the floor like one large room and use two matching area rugs in different sizes or even maybe shapes?...See MoreHelp with living room area rug (pics)
Comments (5)The rug should be as long as the couch, (not counting any fringed ends), the front legs of the couch should sit on the rug, and the front legs of the chairs should sit on the rug as well. Just wondering if you have ever tried the room with the couch facing the fireplace, and the chairs on either side of the fireplace? Would you consider a rug with some color and pattern? A beige rug would just seem to eat up the coffee table. Perhaps this one in either the sage multi or gold multi colorway? linden street crewel rug Finally, I would lower the art over the fireplace so that the bottom of the frame is about where the top of the smaller frame is. Add some lovely candlesticks and green or deep red candles on one side, perhaps a pretty planter on the other side. I would also love to see the mantel in stained wood the color of your flooring, tho the white works well with the trim color and the formal feel of the room....See MoreNeed help with area rug
Comments (9)If you want a console I would make it a narrow one so that you don't need to cut off too much of the width of the rug. I would not change the length unless you want to place some kind of entry pad to catch the dirt from the outdoors. The rug has a strong pattern and strong colors, and I would consider having more than one piece of art, or perhaps one large one over the console that carries some of the colors up the wall so that the rug has some relation to other objects in the area, or have objects on the console itself in those colors....See MoreNeed help with area rug for breakfast nook!
Comments (9)You seem to be drawn to West Elm style. What about one of their rugs? I don't think of your floor as being busy or having an actual pattern, so I wouldn't worry about that. I think you could use something fun and colorful. I'd be sure whatever size you get will fit completely under all the legs, including the back ones, to make it more stable and avoid what Flo suggests about problems for people sliding in and out ....See More
