Breakfast Nook Bay WT help needed - Rods, Medallions, or?
Comments (10)Linda LOVE that drapery fabric - things are really looking good in your room. I would agree w/Art that the drapes are too short - I would bring the rod down so they are just hitting the floor or 1/2" above the floor The bay is tricky - due to lack of space btwn the windows & the roman - The valance just isn't working - I realize it was "hastily gathered" but just wrong for the application. The roman is straight & clean lines the valance is curvy ruffly and fighting. If you wanted to incorporate the panel fabric somehow I think it is going to have to be a creative "out of the box" type incorporation. Some thoughts, not knowing that they would work - A cornice board wrapped in the fabric, sew the fabric on the existing roman valance -Here's a real stab - Since the romans are not lined - sewing the panel fabric to the back of the roman - when they are down you would likely see the fabric through the shade - again a real shot in the dark... or as others have pointed out - incorporating with chair pads etc.. Comments (33)Sorry for the delay in responding. I have a senior graduating from high school this month and we have been busy with senior activities. I'm not feeling the whitewashed on the brick. Too country I think. I'd like to tone down or get rid of the pink altogether. I definitely don't like the black surround. I agree with Grover that it looks like a big black hole. I finally opened the fireplace screen (first time doing so!) and it's so dirty inside the box, I don't even want to go near it. Not sure I'm up for the fireplace project yet. Would like to get it converted to all gas and paint inside the box too. Probably best if I wait until after I get my daughter off to college later this summer. Would like to add additional lighting too as Izzy suggests. Can I ask for opinions on furnishing the rest of the room? I've decided against the chairs and media console I referenced at the start of this dilemma. I want to have a transitional-coastal feel to the space, if there is such a thing. I've had my eye on this swivel chair from All Modern in the Classic Smoke fabric. The color pulls one of the tones from my sofa. Two of these to go side by side across from the fireplace. The height of the arms and back are the same as the sofa, so scale should be good....See MoreHelp with Breakfast Nook Area
Comments (32)Dining chairs with arms are much more difficult to get in and out of than those without arms, and must be scooted back a ways to do so. The depth of the curves on your chairs makes them almost as deep as arms. The metal protectors that came on my "good" dining set slide very well on the rug. The plastic ones we bought for the kitchen set can get dirt/sand imbedded in them if not used on a rug. My kitchen table is the same width and length as yours, although it's a rectangle so has more surface space at each end. We usually have 6 to 8 people for birthdays, holidays, etc. and with 8 people, putting the serving dishes on the table gets very crowded, but that may depend on how many offerings you have.
