Chemo question (also posting in Health)

Well , after I had my hysterectomy I was told it was Stage 1B and would need 6 treatments every 3 weeks. I had my first last Friday. I have felt fine so far , and talking to a few people sounds like the effects of each treatment builds on the previous, so the worst times might be at the end ? Has that happened to anyone ?

Chemo reactions vary from person to person, depending on the type of chemo received. Good luck!

I was going to say what imstillchloecat said. The best suggestion is to try not to worry about it and concentrate on getting the benefits from it. Deal with the effects when they come. Best of luck.

Hi Brenda, How nice of you to ask! I had a HIDA scan and it showed that my gallbladder was fine, so that's not causing problems. I've had labs drawn and they are normal. Next is a new ENT on Monday, to find out if I have an inner/middle ear problem. The nausea and dizziness are doing better, but now my ears and sinuses are acting up! I tried my CPAP again a couple days ago and woke up with horrible pressure in my forehead and a headache. So I don't know what the heck's going on. All this might be because of the weirdness that my fibromyalgia causes. But it sure sends me on alot of wild goose chases! I actually found an internet site today that talked about how CPAP can cause problems.......but I don't know if this ENT will agree. I'm hoping I have an infection that can get cleared up, and then I can use my CPAP again. I'd hate to think I have to be tired the rest of my life! I hope its not cancer from the radium treatments I had when I was little. Don't ask me why I had them. It was sort of one of those fad things back then. :( Are you sorry you asked yet? lol! What would happen if you made an appointment with an internist and lied to your brother about taking him somewhere else -- to the library, whatever? You pull up to the medical building and park. He yells. You say, "You are going in or I will be out $100 for a missed appointment. Get out of the car. We are going in like two adults. We'll be back in the car in an hour, and you can do whatever else you want to do today." Sometimes people are too sick to *know* they need help. For instance, a person with a mental disorder is unlikely to realize he needs help before he gets it. Some people need to tell themselves that they are 'just fine', and that they only went to a doctor because their wife/sister/daughter MADE them go. Can you do this? What's the 'downside'?

Melike, you can see the tree by clicking the green link in the original post. However, HUrandomnumber, you can embed photos by using the camera icon below the message box. As to the tree, it looks parched. And until it’s growing well it can’t make use of any fertiliser. It just needs water IMO.

Agree the one in the cage is a currant bush. The other is one along the lines of a Freeman, red or silver maple (Freeman is the hybrid between the other two which comes up on its own as well has having been intentionally produced in cultivation, includes a percentage of individuals that look a lot like one or other of the two parents yet are still actually hybrids).

The side effects and their intensity vary greatly from person to person. My 1st series was 6 cycles of R-CHOP. I had minimal nausea for 1-2 days after each cycle, but in general felt better and better between cycles. I'm now receiving 3 cycles of R-ICE, which is a much more intensive treatment. I'm still easily able to control the nausea which lasts about 1 week, but the fatigue is much more pervasive.

Just deal with the side effects if/when they come and don't worry about them. This day and age, most are quite controllable, unless you count things like your hair falling it. Mine has...twice.

My husband had chemo and was told that he should be sure to take his anti-nausea medicine BEFORE he became nauseated. He didn't like taking meds "unnecessarily" and didn't listen: he learned and took his meds.

Just follow their instructions and know that it will be over. And rest - chemo and radiation are very fatiguing.

As everyone has said, each person reacts differently to treatment. I don't remember the end being any different than the beginning except that my red blood cell count didn't bounce back as quickly and required intervention. Stay positive and find things that make you laugh out loud. I hope your course of treatment goes smoothly.

I haven't been through it personally but family members have. Stay positive, and let the nurses and doctors know how you are doing. There are lots of options to mitigate side effects, they learn more all the time, so let your health professionals help you. Good luck!
