Too late for celery?
Comments (2)I just started my celery seeds this week. I think it does best when the seedlings are not set out until early May, when the soil is really warming up....See MoreFilter too strong for betta?
Comments (3)You can also use the plastic canvas stuff used for tank dividers and lids (ask at a craft store) to diffuse it. Just glue one or two layers of it to your filter's outflow, using aquarium sealant for the glue. A small forest of real or fake plants in front of it with the canvas is generally something bettas love their owners for....See MoreCoffegeek is too strong!
Comments (10)Dear writersblock -- that's so funny! But don't let on with the coffeegeeks; you will definitely lose face. It's not actually about the coffee literally, it's about association. or something; dunno. But my experience is that it's really important not to reveal your coffee class to those who identify with it! That said, I still dream about a cup of coffee I had last year made by a kids' friends' dad in his new, $3000 espresso maker. It was indeed good. Definitely the most expensive coffee I haven't paid for. Spills. sigh. Yes, I'm afraid there are grounds spills. A lot of them. My dh is such a slob (sounds like a kids' game: how big of a slob is *your* spouse...) that he won't even measure the coffee grounds, he dumps em in. This results, of course, in grounds in the coffee, even, bitter, nasty, burnt. And a mess all over the counter. Really, it's absurd. And for years I would make the coffee to avoid this (for years I banned it altogether, for years I insisted he make instant; we've tried many things). But my latest thought is to try one of those grind-and-blow deals. Again, I thought it would save time and hassle over-all. perhaps. I hear y-all saying, though, that this may not be the case. Individual cuppa's won't work for me b/c I couldn't accept the ecological responsibility -- all those little cups of plastic. shudder. Plus, I'm fairly certain dh wouldn't find em strong enough. The coffee-thing really is a strong, strong addiction with all the associated behaviours. I know this from my own behaviour (can't have just one) and from dh's who roared recently in accusation that I had watered the coffee, sounding precisely like my alcoholic grandma of many years back when I had foolishly, youngly, thought to dilute her alcoholism by watering the CC. Bad move. Same thing here. Can't really get inbetween these addicts and their poison. I am guessing the little cup-thingies wouldn't cut it. Question regarding the internal grinder: do you have to clean out the grinding-part? sounds like it. My option wouldn't be to just buy a grinder and machine; it would be pre-ground and machine, I was just thinking to skip the grinding-step (I do often buy the beans when they're cheaper and also I buy them because I can buy free-trade, sometimes organic coffee, easier this way)....See MoreIs this curtain color too strong?
Comments (13)You guys are the best. This is why I love this site. Peacock really hit it, right? Roman Shade, more muted, maybe the graphic needs to be the orange on white, not the white on orange? We took down two walls when we opened up this space in March. Now the kitchen has a double window over the sink, a single window at the peninsula, then a full length window to finish that wall and two windows on the front of the DR. 6 Roman Shades may be too much. DW really loves that style, though, and has talked about it before. We would use some jars and other items spread in the kitchen to balance the bold color in your face. Also, add some similar coloring into the LR opposite to bring it more together. Somehow tone it down, better balance, not quite so much in your face. We can sign out the entire bolt and hang it on one side for a couple of days and see how we feel. I do love this trellis, though. Also, the pic in the kitchen is not in a good light, it just showed the space better than others....See More- 9 years ago
