A little snoring, dog dreams, coyotes, etc. I get my best sleep with my head stuck between 2 pillows and no noise.

Usually I run a white noise machine, except during allergy season. During the latter, I run an air cleaner. But, while I was in Germany, I listened to the snoring from my sisters.... :)

The tinnitus in my head! I have a small fan near my side of the bed plus the ceiling fan on. The smaller one is white noise. I don't sleep well with the TV on.

I prefer relative quiet when falling asleep but if not, I can usually fall asleep anyway. Once asleep, so long as it's nothing too loud, ambient noises usually don't wake me. Our neighborhood is quiet, no main streets, trucks or motorcycles are ever nearby or heard.

Noises are more common for us when we travel. As an example, during a fun visit to NYC last fall, my wife complained about hearing sirens and garbage trucks in the middle of the night. I'm sure she did, I didn't.

It takes me a while to fall asleep. Usually it's to DH's snoring and the dogs' rustling. I'm the city and there's always the steady drum of traffic too. Obviously I'm not bothered by noise. :)

Nothing - I take out my hearing aids and that is that.

I have tinnitus, so I have to sleep with a fan on my nightstand. The white noise helps to drown out the bell ringing bees in my head. During the day I always have the tv on for the same reason.

We live deep in the woods and it's almost too quiet out here. It's like the absence of noise and can be unsettling. To counter this, we run a fan in the bedroom. It makes just enough of a rhythmic background noise that it lulls us to sleep.

I have trouble sleeping if the tv isn't on. I sleep during the day usually,and would rather listen to the tv than the cars going by. My dogs snoring has woken me up before. He sounds like a seal in labor.

We have a fan going and the window open. Fresh. moving air and a low level of white noise make for a perfect night's sleep for us. One night when we were having a rare thunderstorm and loud, gusting winds, I played a relaxing playlist on my tablet to even out the noise. Scott, I wake up if the power goes out and the fan stops.

My neighborhood is a very quiet one. The only noise at night
is the sound of ‘silence’. The TV is set on a timer as a distraction, because
my mind will not shut down at night. Once asleep, normal sounds don’t disturb me, but if a
cat makes that gag sound, I’m out of bed like a lightning bolt.

We live about five miles from major train tracks. If the wind is in the right direction I can hear the trains at night. That really doesn't bother me but I don't like to hear the trains idling on the side track. I wouldn't want to live in town closer to the tracks like my close family members do. Last night I heard coyotes.

I fall asleep every night hearing the backdoor neighbor's dogs barking. They let them out as soon as it gets dark and barking seems to be their entertainment for the remainder of the night. :-(

DH falls asleep the minute he closes his eyes, I take longer. I like it quiet with no noise at all. I can take his heavy breathing after 40 years and am thankful he doesn't snore. I hear the noise from my CPAP machine which acts like a white noise machine. Sometimes DS has his TV show or music too loud and can hear that, which drives me crazy. I would rather listen to the coyotes howl.

I listen to a transistor radio. Listening to something, usually BBC World News, keeps my mind from worrying, although the world news is not exactly uplifting. I fall asleep with it on. I go through a lot of batteries.

Usually to an audiobook and a cat purring. When I travel I leave the TV on and the fan turned to high, because all those noises that don't belong in my house keep me awake.

Before I got Ryan, I'd hear all sorts of animal sounds,wild and domestic, vehicles on the gravel roads, an occasional gunshot, the wind in the trees and the rain on the roof. If those noises woke me, I'd soon fall back to sleep.

Now mostly what I hear are snores, sighs, mumbles, yips and fidgets. But every once in a while I'll be awakened by furious barking and the thunderous sounds of a dog running flat out down the hallway to the bay window in the dining room to vanquish intruders, mostly imagined. Try getting back to sleep after one of those episodes.

Small humidifier and husband's CPAP machine plus the peke's occasional snoring keep the room from being quiet but the sounds help me sleep.

I usually fall asleep to the television. Sometime during the night DH finds the remote and turns it off. Or, I'm listening to the gurgle of a downspout. There is one downspout on this house that is not tied into the underground drain system and its right next to the bedroom window that is slightly open all year round. When its raining (almost non stop the last few weeks) - it gurgles. I don't need quiet, or dark, to sleep. Anytime, anywhere, and I can usually sleep.

In the summer time I run a small fan on the dresser beside the bed also, mainly because it's warm and also the window is open and I hear traffic all night long - in the country! There is a main highway not far away and lots of semi trucks coming and going. With the fan the sounds are minimal.

Now this coming summer I'll have air conditioning for the first time so probably won't need the window open or the fan on very warm nights. During the winter I can fall asleep without white noise for some reason. I think it's the coziness of being under my heavy comforter. But any unusual noises will wake me up.

I have to have a fan going. I hear everything and wake up without it. The fan drowns out a lot of noises. My dog snores too. Sometimes she snores like an old man.

I always have my bedside radio on all night long. Usually fall asleep quickly and never hear it, but it has to be on.

To quieten the "crickets" in my ears....tinnitus...there is a fan going and usually the a/c, if Jody is here. Also, I have a radio on all the time. I "go to bed with George Noory and I wake up with Matt Patrick."

I don't know what to expect this summer. Last summer was a tad toasty. This winter has been mild here in Columbus, meaning we couid have another hot summer.

Nothing. I like silence and darkness.

Nothing. We live in the country and love the dark and the quiet. We do have an aromatherapy diffuser in the room now, but it is so quiet you have to really listen to hear anything.

Over the past 15 years I've progressed from fall asleep the minute my head hits the pillow and sleep like the dead to literally looking at the clock every hour for most of the night.

Start out with the TV. When I turn it off I have a free app on my phone called Sleep Pillow. A handful of sounds to choose from. I always use the rain. Set the timer for an hour and 15 min. (The longest option on the free version).

I have to have noise. Even with the rain sound there are nights that I hear it stop and have to reset it for another round.

The ringing in my ears. Sounds of nature, but once I fall asleep I don't hear them, or at least they don't usually disturb me.

I was awake late last night, and just about the time I settled in, I heard something around the edge of the property--I got up to see if it was cats or coyotes (or both), but couldn't identify it, and then it stopped. This morning my DD said she could hear a cat crying. I went to investigate again, and surprised a large cat at the back of the barn. She must be in heat to sit and yowl so long for no apparent reason. She's out of luck with my two males--one of them was sitting by the door, absolutely unconcerned. I'm sure she tempted them all night long, but I didn't hear it after I went to sleep.

Our early spell of warm weather brought out the peepers, and soon we'll have young mockingbirds that sing almost all night. Sometimes I hear a train whistle in the distance. I love those sounds.

Addicted to our national radio and having a little bedside radio that I can push a bar on top to turn on, I do ... and it'll run for an hour, then turn off. During the late night hours it plays German, British, Australian, U.S. (used to have Netherlands, but they shut down a couple of years ago) radio programs.

It has another little bar on top that I can touch when I leave the room, to turn it off.

I go to sleep rather quickly and it takes a major noise to wake me up.

My ex- used to say that I could sleep any time, and any place.

(Either don't have much of a conscience ... or, at his advanced age, it's become well trained ... do ya figger?)

Air purifier here. But only because a son in the adjacent bedroom has chosen to remote work and chat on-line all night long. Still, we'll miss him mightily when he moves to beautiful downtown Burbank next month.

I few years ago, I learned to put myself to sleep in a very short time by doing deep breathing exercises and concentrating on the sound of my own breath.

I like it quiet when I go to sleep.

We sleep with the fan running. Always have. A little snoring from Tommy mixed it.

I'm like a couple of others here, the noise in my ears is plenty. But my noise is mostly like the Cicadas sound in the summer. But it doesn't keep me awake. I prefer quiet to sleep, no TV or radio, that would bother me more than the Tinnitus does. There is very little outside noise in this neighborhood to bother anyone. Very few cars passing.

The Tinnitus doesn't usually bother me much. I guess I've gotten used to it over the years, my very own 'built in' white noise. Occasionally it will be loud enough, or annoying enough, to give me a headache, and even more occasionally, it will go away, or be so low it is almost unnoticeable.

I'm like Texas Gem and I like streaming the tv and listening to repeats until I fall asleep. I also like listening to audio books.

The dogs are quiet and have to put up with me ;-)

Nothing. I did try white noise because they said it helps you sleep better. It doesn't. ;) I like my bedroom pitch black and quiet. In the summer, however, I do like to sleep with my window open. The traffic and airplanes flying overhead to wake me up sometimes though. And we had a family with five or six kids (I lost count), move in next door and in the summer they're outside quite late, so I'm forced to keep my window closed. And even then, they yell and holler at each other, often just feet from my bedroom window. Even having it closed sometimes it feels like they're right in the room with me. It's aggravating....

We've never had a TV or a table fan in our bedroom. We crack a window at night unless it's below zero or we have the A/C on. We both like to hear the quiet sounds outdoors. (I have even opened a window *with* the A/C running -- just to escape the 'dead air'.)

I remember part of "The Wire" where a boy from the city streets (Baltimore) was sent to safety in the countryside. He couldn't sleep with "all that noise" -- crickets, owls, no gunfire.

We have the bedroom window opened fully, and also the door to the fire escape. This creates a gale wind which we love.

We hear people starting their cars in the morning, buses, snow plows, and see streetlights and the lights of the fire trucks and ambulances at times.

Silence.

I listen to youtube on my iPhone. Usually it's an interview with an author or a motivational talk, something like that. I usually fall asleep before it ends and then the next night, I start it at roughly the last thing that I remember hearing.

Rusty, my tinnitus is the same as yours--cicadas in the distance. I don't notice it during the day when there are other noises, and I'm busy.

Last night I slept with the window open, and the peepers were happily singing in the ponds. It also rained late in the night. Ahhh, spring!
