How old are they? The nocturnal playtime tends to wane as they mature (with the occasional WWF matches on/off the bed at bedtime or in the early AM!). Kittens are the worst when it comes to that kind of stuff but it does lessen as they get older.

Generally speaking, our 3 1/2 and 4 year old girls either start the night in our bed, come up at some point during the night, or will come up during the pre-dawn hours and are still there when I wake up. Our 3 1/2 year old goes through phases where she'll get into things, go behind the TV and crawl into the TV stand (and then head butt the glass doors from inside the stand!), or goes into the living room and cries and cries just because--late, late at night, or very early morning, depending on your definition of time. PIA, but we love her!

I'm also curious as to how old they are.

I totally agree this should get better the older they get.But maybe it's cuz there are two of them and they are partners in crime :)
Our cat was a pain when he was little.Now he does sleep with us when ever we sleep.He also eats when we eat too,and has to be in whatever room we are in.But he is the only cat,if he had company I'm not sure he would be like that.

All our cats, 4 of them, sleep all night or most of the night...When I'm ready to go to bed, they all have their bedtime snack and then I say, lets go and a couple of them will race me to the bed...Our oldest, Simba, sometimes likes to wake up DH about 3:30, only because when Simba a baby, DH would get up and give him chicken????? He knows better to come to my side of the bed....But every cat is different, we're just lucky with our's....But I also think, when they get older, they'll probably settle down....

I was reading somewhere (I think it was in the literature one of the shelters gave us with our cat) that it helps if you don't let them sleep during the evening. Wake them up and play with them so they get tired out by your bedtime. If they are sleeping all day, they are less likely to sleep at night.

I agree this is something they usually grow out of and they will eventually get on your schedule. Your problem is made worse by having three of them, if one doesn't think of getting up for playtime, one of the others will! It should get better though, and what the one poster said about trying to tire them out is a good idea.

Thanks for the responses. My Jasper is 2 years old and the sisters I would estimate to be 5 months old... since I got them off the street, I'm just going by size. I'll try to tire them out and for sure quit feeding them before bed time. Thanks again.

Jellybelly - 10 weeks old - is up playing in my bed for a good part of the night, and sleeps for some of it as well.

She chases her tail in the space between my head and shoulders. Evidently she can spin well there.

You have my sympathy. Once we had 4 Abyssinian cats, whose 12 kittens made nights miserable by running around on top of us and biting our toes. It was like having a herd of tiny wild horses in the room. The remedy was to tire them out before bed. We would drag strings for them to chase around the apartment till they could hardly run any more.

Hah! Yes, that is what usually happens, but for the past few months, our 16-year old, who does sleep for much of the day, has taken to wandering around and practically howling for hours and hours during the night. He is healthy, but too old to be interested in playing, so we can't tire him out. While he cries in that loud, demanding Siamesey way (though he is not Siamese), he is leaping from the bed to the window to other furniture and back again, or running heavily right up my body to look at my face and go "purrup" in that endearing inquisitive way cats have.

He is worse in warm weather and at the time of the full moon, and I wonder if there are skunks, other cats, or possums in the back yard, so he is dying to go out there. The most I will let him do at night is look out the window. By around 4:00 or 5:00 in the morning, he is ready to settle down. We are wondering if he is getting a bit senile because he never used to give us so much trouble at night.

To my relief, the colder weather now seems to impel him to get under the covers and stay there. No trouble last night.

Our Manx turned the corner just after a year old. He's now a lovely bed-warmer at night, but the entire first year was light sleeping with him tearing around the house all night.

I don't know if it is only a mater of exercise or temperament. Our house is *busy* with our puppy and two people working from home. Our kitty is thankful when we all shut up and go to sleep :)
Several of my mother's cats never settled with age. All of her cats lived quite, sedentary lives. One in particular loved to drag herself along the floor upside down under the beds at 2am. :P She did this right up until she passed away at age 12.

Our Mewyou cat is about 11 years old, and is totally deaf, and loves to sleep under all the covers at my hubby's feet, or on top of the covers against his body.. BobbieB

My cats are banished to the first floor at night and the French doors are closed. They know the drill. No way could I sleep with seven cats crawling over me..epecially when Henry chases my little tortie. Some cold winter afternoons, Phoebe and I take a nap and it usually is good except when she needs to get closer and practically sits on my face.

I have a high tolerance for shenanigans while I am sleeping. The cats walk along my sleeping body like I am a log, take up most of my space, and Ruby - the dog - sleeps on my head. She will grunt at me and in a dead sleep I will stir and lift the edge of the comforter so she can crawl under the covers ROFL.

Jasmine (oldest cat) will come and bug me for her late night snuggle sessions but usually sleeps the night. Xena (younger cat) also wants her nightime rubs (and will pat my face or lick/nip my arms until I do so). She is the most likely to be active at night, attack feet, chew hair, lick elbows, get into things on the bedstand and so on. We ignore her as best we can LOL.

Sorry I have NO advice for you.

Or if you're going to feed them before bed,give them some turkey since it is known to make you sleepy. Everytime I give my cat turkey he is zonked out only moments after eating it.
