May I have some white rose suggestions, please?
Comments (41)I like the hybrid musks Moonlight, a creamy white with good rebloom, Prosperity gets really big, repeats well, and Penelope. Penelope has apricot buds and can have a blush of pink or apricot that fades to white. For tiny blooms I like Lindee with dime sized blooms and good vigor. Makes a nice 3 or 4' shrub. Darlow's Enigma is a healthy, wild looking white. Lucille is a great bloomer, a small found rose with delicate, luminous blooms but bs prone. A friend gave me Sweet Afton , too early to say much. Another friend has Royal Highness , a mostly white ht with outstanding fragrance. I hear good things about Margaret Merril (sp?). I like the teas Angel's Camp Tea, mostly white, very fragrant with good rebloom. Also Madame Joseph Schwartz. I used to have Garden Party and liked it a lot..had pretty good bs resistance here, and bloomed very well. Moonstone is gorgeous. Martine Guillot is prolific, vigorous and healthy, mostly white. Comments (30)fishymom, I have a busy granite and chose a mosaic backsplash to go with it ... big mistake!! The colors were a good match (like yours are), but the two busy materials just didn't go well together. They looked fine in my head, but awful in reality! We covered the countertops with brown paper before installing the splash, so imagine my surprise when we removed the paper and I was confronted with that disastrous reality. I got up early the next morning and ripped out the entire splash myself. Unfortunately, I didn't start frequenting GW until my remodel was nearly completed, or I might have been able to benefit from all of the people here who will be brutally honest in their opinions. If you do choose to go ahead with the mosaics, make sure you are there when it is being installed so that you can veto it if you realize that it's too much. What looks fine when you are just looking at a sample will often look much different when it is all around the kitchen. Comments (21)I just peeked to see what this forum was about, and OMG I am going to be hooked! I LOVE LOVE LOVE your color band and tree of life and even the brick background!! I also would like to throw out an idea if it's not too late and you still haven't grouted -- usually I can visualize what would look right for grout, but not this time! So I am wondering, if you take a photo of it and then photocopy it in color and make 2 (or more) copies, then you could use crayons to approximate the grout color and see how each looks. I can see both the charcoal and the light color working but with very different effects, and if it were me I would do that and get out my Crayolas! Like your very own coloring book... Good luck and I will be checking back to see how this looks when you finish. It's so unique and fun and very cool and I am inspired! (we're building a new house and I am determined to have some crafty fun with it!) Thanks for sharing your work!...See MoreVote For (or veto) Backsplash Choices! I need some help, please!
Comments (10)Hi Julieh- I completely understand your dilema--I have been having trouble finding just the right backsplash for about 8 months now, too! Today I was in Home Depot and was looking at tiles (again-- they keep bringing in new things!)and I saw something that might work for you, since you are looking for a "warm" but not beige marble. They had some very beautiful 2 x 2 " White Grecian" marble (on 12 x 12 sheets)--It was much "warmer" in tone than Carrera. There was lots of beautiful, subtle gold and brown veining in it as well as a little bit of grey. It was very soft, and not very busy. Of course, each shipment of "White Grecian" might be slightly different. At least with the big box stores, however, you can kind of pick through them and get the lot with just the right shading or variation. I'm not sure where you live, as I'm sure that their in-stock selection might vary by region. I am in Maryland. That stone is supplied by MS International, --just in case you have one of their granite and stone wwarehouses near you. You can order it in various sizes and styles at HD's online site. I agree that the carrera and beige botticino is not working with the walls and countertop. By the way--have you noticed that Home Depot is carrying lots of Jeffrey Court (high end supplier) mosaics in stock now? So much for people who say that Home Depot tiles are not good quality! HTH.
