I am always amazed when people say they have loads of photos or music that they do not want to lose or cannot replace yet have never backed up these valuables. If your hard drive fails tomorrow you have a very real problem. You are not alone in this and I am not trying to be mean spirited but if you fail to look after you and your possessions then who will? For less than $50 you can buy a name brand DVD-RW and for under $20 you can buy 100 blank DVDs. You can buy a lesser amount of blanks of course, that is a choice you can make. The DVD will come with software you install to use it. Or if you already have blank CDs you could use those in the DVD burner. If you back some of that stuff up and remove it from this computer it may well run faster because you will have more free space on the hard drive for the swap file to work better. Does your activity light come on frequently and stay on for long periods? If so this is an indication the swap file is have a problem. Then if you really want to get carried away you can visit Big Lots where they have (or did recently in the Buffalo, NY store) CD or DVD labels and the software to create your own labels for $10 or $11. Another option would be to install this hard drive as a slave in the new computer you intend to buy. You would need to check that there are compatible data connections in the new computer. Older hard drives are IDE or ATA but the newer and faster technology is SATA.

I use Dropbox everyday.. had it about a year. 7gb free so far..I only use about 7%.. a few referals & little contests & promotions they have earn more free space. I use dropbox mostly to give download program links to people or when I'm fixing things to transfer & install programs with team viewer. Much easier than sending someone to say SuperAntiSpyware & having them ask tons of questions. Just give a link and say install this works. Right now their forum build is new to mobile devices.. upload via a mobile device pictures or video and get instant 500mb additional storage. Then it seems for every 500mb additional you upload, you get more space in 500mb chucks up to 5gb I read in some forum post. They are due for a Q&A/hide & seek type contest. Last year I got 2 or 3 gb additional storage in one of those. I really enjoy DropBox.. would hate to not have it.

I am going out of what's left of my mind... Rechecked the connections all is OK on that front. Tried to install drivers from miniCD that came with enclosure, but they were for Windows 98 only. Light does come on for enclosure when powered up. My computer sees a USB mass storage unit attached as it tells me this device would run better with a USB 2.00 port.(I have l.0, I guess) Device Mgr.says this device is there and working properly but it will not show up on "My Computer" to be accessed. I even went into DOS prompt and at random typed in various drive letters and after G:(CDRW) nothing clicked in..and I got up to the letter R:!! Just got bright idea...I am going to Nexstar website for clues...thanks for your input...keep it coming...bye for now.

I just purchased 2 split a/c systems as an upgrade from the units I currently have. It is now September 22, 2014 and I am unhappy with my 3 month old brand new units. I started with a Fujitsu 11000 btu in the master bedroom and a Mitsubishi 30000 btu in the living room. The Fujitsu was weak in cooling efficiency and even though I cared for it very well it required cleaning and servicing every 6 months. The living room was an older model - but if you set it at 71 degrees - we'd be freezing within the 1st hour. Both eventually had freon leaks. I replaced the bedroom with a 2014 Mitsubishi 15000 btu thinking I could run it on a low and quiet fan setting at night. The living room was changed to a 36 000 btu 2014 Mitsubishi which I was also hoping to run on a quieter setting. But - NO! We are running both of these units on MAX 59 degrees on a high fan to cool either room which takes a couple of hours. The air feels cold coming out of units - but not too far from the units. Recalled the installers and checked the freon, temps, and the workings of these. 2 month old units. "everything is Normal". Tech says that's how these new energy efficient units run. He says you gotta run them on max to start with or before the house heats up during the day or close the doors down the hallway to trap the cooler air in the living room. The bedroom is the same - we sleep at 9pm - so we run it at 7pm - on MAX!! It sucks - in Hawaii both units plus the install $6200. My electric bill is slightly higher because these energy efficient units run longer and on Max!!! So disappointing! I have tried different temp settings and combinations of fan power. Some have suggested that in Max mode- it is bouncing the cold air off the opposite wall back to the unit causing the thermostat to raise the temp. I am baffled - so junk !!!
