iPad2 Question
Comments (2)Are you using a provider-specific mail app (like Yahoo Mail or Gmail) or just the general one that comes with it? On an Android device (phone), I find I need to uninstall/reinstall mail apps periodically. I'd try that if you have a specific one from the app store. Otherwise, if you're using the generic app that comes on the ipad, I'd delete your email account info, reboot the device, and then re-enter the email account info as if it were the first time. (sometimes what happens is that the stored info or the app files get garbled, just one wrong memory bit and it can bring the function to a stop)...See MoreI-Pad WiFi question
Comments (8)Thanks mike. I guess I should have said 'reboot' in my initial post rather than restart. Yes, I rebooted several times to get the opportunity to enter the security password. This pad does not have cellular capability so when wi fi is gone, it is disconnected. It certainly used to connect to other networks, but I haven't checked lately. I was beginning to think that the pad was retaining wifi connection, but today it is again back to disconnected, still with the blue check indicating that it is connected. The only difference from several days ago, is that the password on 'client ID' is still showing. I had assumed that the showing password was somehow involved in the wifi retention. I have considered 'forget your WiFi', but I don't know where to get the ssid. I suppose it is built in but I don't understand this stuff that well. Edit for addition: OK, I got brave (or could have been stupid) and 'forgot the network' and at least for the time being, the pad is reconnected. It was easy to reconnect because my regular network was still waiting for me to re choose it and it immediately asked for the password and I was properly connected. The password isn't showing in 'client ID'. Perhaps it was never the appropriate place to add it anyway!? I do see a couple of possible differences in the settings that I wrote down if things didn't work. There may have been a difference in the DNS setting (whatever that is) (or it might have been a hand written typo on my part) but the new setting's last 7 chars are now 171.2.226 and I scribed 172.2.226. And under the area of HTTP Proxy (whatever that is), OFF is highlighted, and before there was a space below where it said URL. Was it waiting for some website? So, for the time being, things are in order. It took 2.5 days to lose the network the last time, so we'll see.?!...See MoreiPad vs iPad
Comments (30)Oh yeah, if I lived closer to the Apple store, I'd already have one.. and a MacBook air! (Though I am not a fan of the PC store.. OK, so the things that start sucking up space are Movies (HD especially), photos/videos, and certain video intensive games. Other files take up space but text files are pretty darn small. Maybe I sound like a cheapskate, but I can buy (and have) a 1 Terabyte passport for less than the price diff between the 64GB ipad air 2 and the 128GB. Given the low cost of storage, the price diff between the models is ridiculous. I am a very casual gamer. I am not recording music with Garage Band or any of the other music composition apps. Other than scrabble, I might play 1-2 games a year. I won't use the camera extensively and when I do, I won't store photos on the ipad. I think the 64GB will be fine. I actually think the 16GB will be fine but I'll go 64. :) Thanks so much everyone!!...See MoreiPad question, auto features not working
Comments (22)I understand your perspective. In my experience, no browser reliably works with all websites and which ones work with which can change. I often run into funky behavior with Chrome. While it shares a common engine under the hood with Chrome, my experience is different with Microsoft's most recent browser Edge, that replaced Internet Explorer. Firefox is often good but not always. Android browsers, even the Firefox one, can have idiosyncrasies. Safari on our iPad isn't always what works, that's why the iPad also has Firefox downloaded and ready to use. My employer's intranet, accessible from over the Internet, used to be a "Microsoft browser only" site. Now, MS Edge doesn't work at all with it, Chrome doesn't either, only Firefox does. There was no announcement, it was something I came upon by trial and error. Moral of the too long story - have a couple of browsers handy and ready to switch to because you can expect you'll need to. I'm not saying that's a certain remedy for those having trouble on this site but it is generally a common experience....See Morewritersblock (9b/10a)
