i have an antique brass bed, in a guest room, with the same kind of side rails. i think they might be put in upside down (in the photo) and, therefore, are on the wrong side of the bed. my bed was put together like that by my last mover and was recently discovered by my daughter when she was here visiting. she wasn't able to get the mattress and springs off so just put short boards at the corners to keep them from falling off. i got new carpet since then and i asked the installers to put the rails on correctly when they reassembled the bed. sorry this is so long!..... i don't know if that was done or not and the bedroom is on a different level of the house than i am on and i am in a wheelchair so i can't go check. regarding the length of the mattress, yes, today's mattresses are too long. i bought a used one about 25 years ago, when i bought the bed, since it was shorter than new mattresses at that time. i hope this makes some sense!

There are already rumors about Kindle Fire having free 3G in the future. If this comes true - this will be a major revolutionary move. This is something I can see Bezos doing, as he has become a "Disruptor." Here you go Teresa: iPad - Apple's "tablet" computer. It is just a touch screen, and you can purchase a separate keyboard for it. You can load it with applications that you download from the Apple app store. notebook, laptop, netbook - these are all computers where the screen is on one side and the keyboard is on the other and the thing opens and closes like a book. Started out with laptop, then got smaller and smaller and called themselves notebooks and netbooks. tablet - what iPads are, and everyone is now copying - touchscreens with no separate keyboards. If you want to type - a virtual touch keyboard appears onscreen. pda - personal digital assistant like the old Casios, then Palms. Pretty much obsolete since the features (mostly address books and notes) are now added to cell phones. smart phone - cell phone with computing features. ereader - electronic book readers. You can read electronic books on any computer, tablet and smart phones now. But ereaders like the non-tablet Kindles have a special screen that makes reading easier on the eye.

Thank you all for helping to make this a Merry Christmas to ME..and my dh. lol. We ordered from the Apple Store an Ipad 2, 32 gi, with wi-fi. It will be here on Thursday, the day after our anniversary. We got the internet speed figured out thank goodness. I am so excited! Although I downloaded Itunes, I still can't figure out why I'm supposed to. Is it to download app's? Well, I'll cross that bridge when I get to it. Tina, I do have a laptop but I want something smaller to use. I won't necessarily be typing on the Ipad, but generally surfing the web and playing games and maybe skyping. Question. If we lose power, can we still use the Ipad since it will be wireless? I always used the laptop through dial-up when we'd lose power, and boy it would suck the battery dry.

I have the iPod, smaller than the iPad, just as useful. It uses WiFi through my home computer, no extra bill. I can also use its internet functions anywhere there is a hot spot. I can use all the apps, books, music, etc. without a connection. I use it dozens of times a day. One, I'm constantly listening to audio books...full length, unabridged, audio books. I have 91 loaded into it right not, more in the Apple page. I can purchase audio books on line, or I can put any of the audio CD books I own into the computer and download them into the iPod. I have a Kindle app, so if I have time to sit and read, I can use it. I also have the eBooks and iBooks apps for more reading. It came with a many-functions calander, contacts lists, clocks (world, alarm, timer), voice memo, calculator, more-than-acceptable camera, an unending note pad, a maps function that is better than my high-$ GPS, a Weather app...the list goes on and on. I have a full version Holy Bible, dictionary and theasaurs (be nice if I was using them right now, LOL) I am very busy, and alone, all day, every day. I have the iPod tucked into my running bra strap and an audio book going while I go about my chores and work. When I'm alone I don't have to wear the ear bud because I can hear the books fine. If I want to listen to music I pop it in the Bose docking station and the sounds are wonderful. I don't play games, but I do use it to surf the net when I'm in waiting rooms, etc. I also have a couple movies in it at all times. I can post to my forums, read news, check on anything. I know every store and restaurant in the area that has WiFi!!! It's an amazing tool.
