Pl. help me choose which Light Fixture! Need to decide today
Comments (14)Thanks all for the replies. My 1st pick was the top one with the round balls. I was told that this was only available as pendant style, not a flush mount which we needed as only 8ft ceilings. The 2nd one was available as flush mount or pendant style. However, I contacted the company (supplier) this am and they said they carry in both formats. I've since called the store and am waiting to hear back if I can exchange or if this will be special order and a lot more $$. (Note the flush mount drops 1'' from ceiling vs. pendant which can drop from 6'' to 42''. Fixture is going over either our bed or a coffee table. DH preferred the flush mount style given height restrictions which is why we ended up with my 2nd choice with the non-round drops We'll see what if find out from the store.... Thanks again:)...See MoreLeast Finicky Sans? Choosing between more light or more heat?
Comments (6)Personally, I keep my sans upstairs, where the temps dip to 65 at night. They don't get a lot of light, but my goal is to have them survive. I water them in the morning so they have drained away the excess water when the temps drop at night. I don't keep them on the windowsill, they are on a table next to the window, and I draw the curtains at night to keep the chill away. I believe heat is a huge factor for sans. Last summer, I moved mine to the back porch when it heated up, and some of them pupped for the first time. I brought them inside when night time temps dropped to the mid-50s, I thought that was cold enough. The jades stayed out until temps were mid-40s, they are much hardier. Here's my disclaimer - I'm not an expert, but this is what works for me. I'm in Michigan, which I think is zone 5, so my "warm" summer would make some of you guys laugh, but my coldest winter temps would make you gasp. Hope this helps. Comments (7)Ok, with an 8ft island, if you want something hanging from a single box with three lights on it I would look at something about 48'' long, especially because what you like is very dainty, so it needs to not fade into the background too much, the dark cabinets will help that. However, lighting is the last thing you should be trying to pick. And I would wait until the cabinets and hood are up before trying to make any calls. Also, what will be hanging over the kitchen table? Lighting is far easier to establish with a more finished product to look at....See MorePlease help! Comments (5)Also, here are a few more idea pictures...we have this table for the dining area. and We have these kind of slip covered chairs, in a similar, light color... And we will have that light, too, but in the rectangle shape. This is in the dining room below... I will have iron rods and linen curtains that will go with the slipcovered chairs. For the entry, I was thinking something like this, and then maybe a smaller version for the island pendants, but will that bee too matchy, matchy? I still have to find something for the banquette area. Or I could do a clear type of pendant for the kitchen island like this... and then a small, iron with candle chandelier for the banquette. Maybe something Like this...but in black... Or What do you think??? Thanks!...See MoreUser
