Pl. help me choose which Light Fixture! Need to decide today

Hi there,

I purchased a light fixture yesterday at a local Toronto lighting stores and have until end of day today to change mind. (I came home with my 2nd pick...long story! Don't go shopping with DH,lol)

I thought about getting both for 2 different rooms but thought too close in style and would prefer something different for the other room. (If I purchased 2, one as a ceiling mount style with 1 style drop and the other as a slighting lower pendant style with the other style drop)Dimensions are the same.

Any preferences out there for either the 1st one with the glass ball drops or the 2nd with the more trad. style drops?

Please help me choose! I have until today to decide for sale price to be honored.

They're so close to one another, and both gorgeous, so I don't think you can go wrong.

I'd vote for #1 though...I love the look of the glass balls. I'll admit some bias though... this is what's going in my masterbath:

It's hard to say without seeing your home. I prefer the bottom one, but if you have a trend with round shaped objects or any circular theme, then I would tend to go with the top one.

Both would work. The second one produces a much higher light output though, two of those is approximately equal to three of the HD lamps. Both are rated to 8000 hours of running time, so count on good light quality for about half that because light quality does diminish after a while. If you run them on a timer for 12-14 hours a day that works out to somewhere around a year and six to nine months. Can you add a third fixture and have three of the less expensive lamps? That way if one burns out you don't have as significant loss.

Me, too! We've been planning and dreaming for so long, that it doesn't seem real that we about to get a new kitchen. The rest of my cabs are here. They are gorgeous! We picked the stain sample off a 6 x 10 sample so I was a bit nervous about how they would look but they are really, really lovely. I'll post a sneak peek on my other thread later. I made a decision: Option B with a larger center section. I just sent the plan off to the cab maker. So glad we took the opportunity to rethink the hutch. I think it's going to look good and function very well for us. Thank you, again, for helping me make a decision, Lily Spider!

So I prefer the second door over the first. Traditional wooden mullions fit with the second door, not the first, in my opinion. If you had mullions with the first door, the interior edges are not routed, so the mullions wouldn't be either, correct, so that would look kind of clunky to me (just straights sticks of wood with no edge detail), I don't know if I'ver ever seen it like that? And I'm wondering if that's why it's not offered. With the second door having the interior routed edge, that's also how your mullion would be, keeping it from looking awkward. I would be leery of stark white, though, just a preference, I know there are many others who love it and can make it look great for their space, I just prefer softer white. From the photos shown, I can't see a difference though. I had a hard time choosing to do mullions or not as well. Ultimately I chose not to. I got wavy glass to add extra interest and I'm pleased with my choice. I would definitely not call the second one fussy if that's your hesitation. Although mullions will make it look more traditional. If you had that second door and plain glass, I would call that maybe transitional if I had to put a label on it, still think it can be simple style depending on whatever else you use.

I prefer the first one. To my eye, it seems better laid-out. (if that makes sense)

I prefer the first one also.

Treasuretheday - that looks very much like the small chandelier I have been thinking about at Pottery Barn. Very pretty!

I feel as groovia does, the second would allow for more variety in other room furnishings, deco,ect.

Prefer the first one. The second looks too pointy for me.

Thanks all for the replies.
My 1st pick was the top one with the round balls.
I was told that this was only available as pendant style, not a flush mount which we needed as only 8ft ceilings.
The 2nd one was available as flush mount or pendant style.
However, I contacted the company (supplier) this am and they said they carry in both formats.

I've since called the store and am waiting to hear back if I can exchange or if this will be special order and a lot more $$.

(Note the flush mount drops 1'' from ceiling vs. pendant which can drop from 6'' to 42''. Fixture is going over either our bed or a coffee table. DH preferred the flush mount style given height restrictions which is why we ended up with my 2nd choice with the non-round drops

We'll see what if find out from the store....

They're both beautiful so please be sure to post a picture of whichever one you choose once it's installed.

And to your comment, Hmmmm, it probably is the one you've seen at Pottery Barn... it's a Clarissa Glass Drop Chandelier. I can't wait until we're at the point in our masterbath renovation that we can install light fixtures!

I'd pick one. I'd actually love to know who makes it. I'm about to start picking out lights for our build. It's really pretty!

Yippee! I heard back from the store today and I can get the fixture with the round glass drops in a ceiling mount! Although I'd prefer a dropped/pendant style fixture, I just don't have the height/clearance for it.

Will post pics once it's installed...
