Help me choose Pendant lighting! Backsplash ideas also needed!
Comments (16)Thanks for the suggestions! I will be getting my Vetro B/S sample today (there was a mix up with the supplier.) I really hope I like it because I am really getting kitchen reno fatigue and don't want to keep searching for the right B/S. It's been chaos juggling work, kids and dragging my kids to endless trips to Home Depot, granite, lighting, etc. stores!! Fortunately, we have a much needed vacation next week! The discus pendant is nice, but at 10" in diameter, I think a bit big for my kitchen. Any other ideas? I have no clue what I even like in pendants?? I am considering a brushed nickel b/c of the hardware/SS appliances but also think maybe something glass or crystal would be nice. any other suggestions??? Thanks!!...See MoreWhich style pendant would YOU choose ... looking to mix and match!
Comments (4)ok, in my humble opinion, you have a lot of varied texture and finishes going on. I think between the polished fixture over the nook and the rustic fixtures over the island, your eye will not know where to land if you add another fixture to this space. I would not put two different pendants over the sink area, either keep all the 'kitchen' pendants the same or put to recessed lights over the sink. If it gets too busy it will end up looking like a mish/mosh of lighting. since you seem to have simple clean soft lines through most of your space I would not get carried away with too many lights. also as a side note the fixtures you have now probably give great lighting, the one you are replacing them with will not. Long and short: if you go with the heavy fixture from progress lighting I would nix the ones over the sink all together. but if you go with something a bit softer you could potentially mix it up a bit, as it is now with the two sizes....See MoreWhat pendant lights would look good over kitchen island?
Comments (26)how much space between the pendants. Ann, in both comments I mentioned a guide up in my first comment. I guess you keep missing it? here it is again,,,with 3 others. these should give you the needed spacing to choose pendants. while you can play around w/the distance between them, the height should be right at 30" or so, with no more than 36" from the countertop. Since you're going smaller, you don't have to do the 30" between. smaller sized pendants can be a tad bit closer 7" is a mini pendant and far too small to use over your island. shoot for 10-14"...See MoreHelp picking pendant lights over island
Comments (30)My ceilings are just under 8' and I have a tall husband worried about bumping his head on pendants lol. Our island is 9' long but only 40" wide. We went with clear pendants so visually they weren't intrusive. Played around with how far off the island and found a height that worked for us (my husband). We originally tried the smaller 6" but in the end got the 10" version of these from PB: https://www.potterybarn.com/products/pb-textured-glass-pendant-hood/?catalogId=84&sku=3564536&cm_ven=PLA&cm_cat=Google&cm_pla=Lighting%20%3E%20Pendants&region_id=658780&cm_ite=3564536&gclid=Cj0KCQiA6t6ABhDMARIsAONIYyyT9EKIF7j5Z49P7maicy8XKMtK8CfyevVz58yNd1zpFvaXAbpyPc0aAjk3EALw_wcB...See MoreRL Relocation LLC
