Looking for Shaker-Style Cabinets with Pegged Corners
Comments (6)If there's a specific look you are seeking, I know that Scherr's Custom Cabinets (where I got the cabinets for my remodel) offers the option of adding square or round pegs in the corners of their doors. According to the price guide I have, the upgrade cost to add pegs is a relatively minor $2 per peg. Additionally if you'd like to see a sample of their work they will custom make and ship a door to you for to evaluate, for a relatively minor charge. -Bob...See MoreWhich Door Style? Comments (31)Wow, for months the name Shiloh didn't come up at all on this forum, and now it's all over. I'm a new Shiloh owner, just trying to finish up a few last details before I post pictures. Anyway, I LOVE the Wyatt door (#2). It was definitely a contender with me. However, like a few of the others who have posted, I think the Homestead (#1) door would be a better look for a painted, white door - very classic. (The picture Kompy posted looks great, though...I guess it depends on the scale of the door). I chose the un-creatively named "Square Flat" door style, in the un-creatively named "Red" stain on cherry (the same color as #2 pictured above). It's a flat panel door, but unlike these two, it has a bead aroud the inside edge of the frame. Originally I was really drawn to Shaker cabinets, but decided that the "Square Flat" veered a little bit towards traditional and would go better with my more traditional style house. I also wanted a glaze, and the bead gave the glaze something to stick to. To answer a couple of your other questions, Shiloh is headquartered in Missouri. They are only available east of the Rockies. (I'm in Texas.)...See MoreMixing Shaker Style and Traditional Cabinets?
Comments (6)Thanks for your suggestions hollysprings! I don't like the idea of walnut knobs on the white cabinets... in my head it looks country and that's not my style at all. I was planning to use polished nickel bin pulls on the drawers and polished nickel oval knobs on the cabinet doors. Also, I forgot to mention that the perimeter counter would be black granite and the island would be carrera marble (or something similar). Your idea of a dark wood top for the hutch is interesting. I'll definitely consider that! But I'm still worried about the two different style doors being so close in proximity and so different from each other... I'd love to do a color island, but KRD doesn't have any color options I like and custom paint is outside the budget for the time being. :(...See MoreCrown molding on shaker style cabinets ??
Comments (15)Kmoth, that question makes me smile! It's actually not hardwood at all, but cheapo laminate that's supposed to look like Brazillian Cherry. Our flooring choice was a slave to our budget, but we plan to switch it out for the real McCoy in ~10 years, after we get through the young kids phase. Luckily it looks nice; we had a friend over for dinner and she asked if our hardwoods were original to the house. Imagine her suprise when we explained it was plasty-wood (which is what we fondly call our laminate). CADreamer, Moving-in in two days!! Hurray! I don't know how I missed that the first time I saw this post. I am still amazed at how quickly your kitchen came together. Can't wait to see pictures!...See More22k22
