I have all SS appliances and they're very easy to keep clean...well maybe not the DW. I admit that I kind of wish now that I had gotten a paneled DW. Once you clean a SS appliance with something like Pledge (in brown can), Weiman, or other, fingerprints aren't nearly as much a problem as I kept hearing about. Even with the refrigerator the only place I get fingerprints is on the handles and it's just a quick wipe with a dish cloth and they're gone. I do every week or two wipe them all down with Pledge again...but in-between I just use that dish cloth if needed. The DW, OTOH, gets water drips...oh well...at least it's below eye level! If I ever need a new one I'm considering a panel-ready one. As to dents...I've bumped the refrigerator w/a chair and no dent...so hopefully my appliances are dent resistant! I have a tween & teen who are constantly prowling for snacks in the refrigerator so our refrigerator is the best target for fingerprints...and we don't have problems w/them. I have no experience w/the look-alike SS finishes, so I cannot comment on them. I recommend checking the Appliances Forum for more information.

Thanks for all the help, suggestions, and things to think about. And pictures! It sounds like I could probably do any of the colors and they would work. I guess I do need to think about wanting the sink to stand out or not. Probably not. Why draw attention to the dirty dishes sitting in it?! (= The truffle does look like a perfect match, and your CC and biscotti is beautiful. I'll guess I'll have to wait until I can see more items together, or until my designer can because some decisions will have to be made without me. But not without my input! The metallic gray might be great, or maybe not given my floor will be silver. The brown I'm afraid may be too dark. I'm not really doing much black so probably not that even though I love black. I guess I'm back to the lighter choices. And was I not thinking darker when I started this thread? Now you understand why I'm driving my poor designer crazy. :)

I am looking at a Whirlpool french door finger print proof and putting on the same way as a stainless steel double wall oven. Is there a difference in appearance between the two appliances.

I think you can definitely mix them. However, I wouldn't mix them on the same wall. For example, if your fridge and your range are on one wall in black stainless, you could add a regular stainless DW and microwave in the island. If you're going this route, carry the mixed metal idea through to your faucets, hardware, and lighting, too. Lots of great photos on this site with mixed metal finishes in kitchens. All that said, I wouldn't do this if you're planning to sell the house in a few years. If it's a look you love and you will be in your home for many years to come, go for it.
