Did I break my bathroom? (Floor plan)

Hi. I've been
content with an inelegant but feature-packed master bathroom floor plan for
a while now . . . it would've included the standard sink, shower, and
toilet, along with a stacked washer/dryer, some
shelving for color-sorted laundry baskets, and a tankless water heater.

Last week I
revisited some comments on an old post I made. Several people didn't like the bathroom. So, while the "before" pic below has already been
revised/improved since then, I took another crack at redoing it,
and now I can't decide what I think of the probably-not-final
product.

All the laundry
stuff has been moved into the master bedroom's closet, which is
fine. I can't see anywhere to hide the water
heater except in the vanity, which might not be fine (I'm not sure
installation in that tight space would fly, even though it's electric). And I
don't love where the toilet landed – seems like another cramped space, at least compared to the old setup (aging in place is a major
consideration), and kind of germy, too, sitting right next to the
sink.

Oh – I also
removed the 3.25" interior trim from the window in order to squeeze
in a bigger unit and not lose as much natural light. And I threw in
a half-wall and soffit to (hopefully) hide the refrigerator bump and help the room flow better.

The main upside is that this would allow me to chop 67 square feet from the house, and the front elevation is a little more balanced. So is the new plan
better or worse? Thanks.
