Any Source for Jade Rose (Tantau 2000)???
Comments (4)janen, the best thing to do is buy this from a florist and root it yourself. I think there are a few of us who have this, and this is how we got ours....See MoreWanted : Jade Rose (Tantau 2000)
Comments (1)I have had success make roots off of florist roses and not any from a flower store that were real fresh but they always end up dying..I use schlutz rooting hormone, like a inch in the bottom of a 6-8 inch cup and fill with water and wait till they root(or die).I had 99 cuttings from random places and only 2 have rooted one flowered a sweet pink flower and the other should bloom in the next 2 or 3 days...See MorePalatine has an agreement to offer a lot more new Tantau roses!!
Comments (33)I was tracking down Enchantress, and discovered her more common name is Gartentraume, and she is a garden dream. Sort of like a light pink Augusta Luise. I must have that rose, along with Comtessa, which is like a pale yellow AL. I can just see three of these exquisite roses growing together, AL, Gartentraume, and Comtessa. Aye yi yi. So those three, along with Aquarell are my must haves--along with lots of others, of course. Sorry for this digression, but I'm in the throes of rose lust. Nothing is really getting me excited this spring, except for roses I can't have (yet), and each year in the past, there has been at least one "must have" rose-- or more. But not this year because they are out of reach. Sigh. Diane...See MoreBeautiful Tantau Roses!
Comments (23)My first maidens were from Carlton back in 2000. If you grow roses and have never ordered a maiden, it's one of the scariest things you'll ever do (the first time). The rose you want is budded onto the stem of the rootstock. Once you get the rose, you cut off the entire top of the rose, in order to let the bud below develop. After Carlton, my next maidens were from Steve at Wisconsin Roses a few years later. Recently, I got some custom budded from Steve last summer that I sent him canes of (rare old fave I've had trouble rooting), plus a couple he had in stock at the time (Twice in a Blue Moon and Oksana). I have a new order coming from him in November... totally Aaron's fault for saying he had Stephen Rulo (thank you!) and I also scored Alakazam (another ultra rare one). I've never lost a rose from a maiden. Here's an example of how great they are: my Pink Intuition from WI Roses in 2007 is still amazingly huge and healthy in a 15 gallon pot, and still regularly puts out new basals. Don't fear the maidens :-D...See Moreflowersaremusic z5 Eastern WA
