Comments (20)Thanks, purplemoon & luvs! $135! Wow! Hope you'll see a better deal one of these days...cause my BabyDoll was my Mom's but she's not antique or anything. My sis has the "twin" (which was dressed as a baby boy) & when Mom gave it to her, my sis changed the doll into "girl" clothes! LOL! (actually, they are identical "it" dolls...hair cut the same, etc.) Think I will e-mail my sis some pics of Dollbaby...she will think I've "lost it" & need something more to do! NOT true! I stay busy all the time! LOL! I buy 3 - 6 mo. clothes...like that jumper was $3 ... but now I'll be watching GS's cause can get better buys! LOL! Thanks, gals! Comments (30)we live in a split level and we have the dog's bowl at the bottom of the steps on lower level with a pet mat underneath b/c she is such a messy eater and drinker. the cat gets fed on top of W/D b/c dog will eat his food ASAP... so no food bowls in my kitchen. i was always knocking the water bowl pre-reno and did want to deal with it in new kitchen. so sorry for everyone's loss. it is just heartbreaking to lose your pet. we lost two dogs some years ago and we still miss them and talk about them. our dog now is going on 13 and really slowing down... thinking of rescuing another soon. i would just hate to something to happen to her and then have no dog at all.....our cat is going on 11 but still acts like a kitten, so hopefully he has alot more years in him. he is indoors only, so i think that really helps further his life. he was a rescue. we found him at 6 mos of age on the jetties in cape may, nj. brought him home and have had him every since. he's is just awesome, more like a dog than a cat. always the first to greet you at the door, we all just love him so much. we always wondered what made someone dump him, but their loss was our gain. here's a pic of Tori, just taken this morning and Jetty, taken 4 yrs ago, he looks the same!!...See MoreWhite Pet from Antique Rose Emporium is all leaved out in 4 weeks
Comments (43)I almost planted my White Pet last night after watering, but by then it was nearly dark and I'm such a slow poke. Maybe I will start by mixing the amendments in a bucket and placing some gypsum in the bottom of the hole first. Then the actual planting will go faster. Also I seem to only have size "Ginormous" gopher cages left, and only a medium size hole. There's always some obstacle/ excuse. I thought maybe my new purchase of these solar powered, beeping, vibrating stakes was effective at keeping them away. I installed them in February and yesterday I saw a fresh gopher mound. Some say the stakes work, other say they're a total waste of money. I couldn't dig up and cage everything that was already planted, and the stakes are nontoxic so I was willing to try. I still believe they have helped some. I've had far less gopher activity than most years, but this time of year is the real test. It's hot and dry out and they smell the water in my yard. If you water, they will come..... Millie went to see her Dr. yesterday and all is well. She is adapting to having only one rear leg, and she's strengthening it. For now all is well. She had another round of shots, so she is not quite as spunky today. A cuddle mood, is what she's in today. Ingrid, I hope your Tea rose pulls through. Is it Rhodologue Jules Gravereaux? I sure hope she holds on. Is Mme. Franziska Kruger the one potted on the bench? need a break. To be continued I'm back. I heard some commotion and after doing a kitty count, realized Dexter was involved in something. He had cornered a squirrel. This is the first squirrel I have ever seen in my garden. I put all my little hunters inside, and Mr. Squirrel left, cussing up a storm as he went. I hope he was scared enough not to come back to my yard. My tomatoes are just ripening! Back to the roses. I don't know which one you planted and which one is waiting Ingrid, but I hope it's ok. The black canes don't sound so good. Does spraying with water help the canes in this situation? I planted a Lady Ash(aka Dixieland Linda) about 6? weeks ago, in full sun. I finagled an atrocity of a sun block for her, but she's still unhappy. Maybe she's embarrassed:) Lady Ash is supposed to be a strong girl, related or sport to "Aloha", which I know you have, Ingrid. She has no black canes, but no growth, and tiny pale leaves. She just looks bad.I keep telling her, " Hold on Lady! It's not always like this here. Your gonna love it 9 months of the year". I'm not sure if I'm saying this for her benefit or mine. Gdinieontario, wow 18 years! Looks great. WP must handle some cold winters quite well. Does yours bloom in flushes, or always some blooming during the season? I'm so eager to get mine planted out. You may wish us a short mild summer, and we will wish you a short mild winter in return. Lisa PS. I see that your Blue hosta has also lasted at least 10 years. Nice!...See MorePet peeves, about your pets or just "weird" maybe "cute". ♥
Comments (54)It has been 26 years since we lost our Snuffy, a Poodle Schnauzer mix. She was a terror in the garden. Cucumbers were her favorite. She would go through the vines till she found just the right one and grab hold and pull till she got it loose. She would then carry off her prize and eat it in the shade of a nearby tree. Of course that meant broken vines etc. She also picked her own green peppers to eat in that shady spot. Snuffy also loved ice cream and knew the location of the 4 places we often indulged in that treat. She knew long before we were in sight of those places and would start whimpering . If we drove on by she would complain bitterly with barks and yelps. 5 years after we moved from Ohio to Michigan, she remembered those places on a visit back to Ohio. Snuff was 7 years old when she was diagnosed with diabetes. We still allowed her to have ice cream now and then. When we could, we avoided driving past the ice cream places she knew. At home in the evening while we were watching tv or reading, we would often hear her soft whimpers as she sat in the kitchen in front of the freezer desperate for her ice cream. Snuffy died at 13 years. Her ashes we still have, stored in an Edys ice cream carton...See Moremaire_cate
