Scroll through the photos of Houzz long enough and you'll realize that, next to our homes, we all really, really love our pets. To celebrate them, we thought we'd sit down and compile all the funniest, most clever, and yes, downright cutest pets and pet designs shared by you, the Houzz community. From cool washing areas to pups curled up in the master bedroom, we're starting our salute to pets with all things dog.

These stairs are close enough together to be manageable by spry pups both big and small. Careful for older dogs though — wood steps can be slippery on their paws.
There's always a lively debate regarding if dogs should be allowed in the humans' bed. Reach a compromise with a nearby bench for your pup to curl up.
On the hunt for a new dog bed? Get the step-by-step instructions for making your own out of an old suitcase, like this one.
... But if you're okay with giving them a spot on the bed, we won't judge.
An understated tuft at the foot of the bed is good spot too. Be it off to the side...
... Or right underfoot.
In warmer weather, a furry pup can sprawl out on a concrete floor to keep cool.
Kyle and Lauren Zerbey's dog Bailey was not forgotten in the design of the couple's renovated house...
His food and water bowls have their own special built-in nook in the kitchen island.
Here's a similar arrangement with room for one more and drawers for all sorts of treats.
The dog-loving owners of this home (who also run the design firm Brown Davis Interiors) created this installation using dog sculptures found in Miami Beach.
A few pillows and a throw are enough to entice any pet to curl up for a nap.
But getting your pet — or anyone, really — to relinquish a spot like this during colder months could be tough.
In warm months it's all about the outdoors. Some dogs may prefer a more active lifestyle with a swim...
... A little exploring...
Pavers provide a path for pets and people to cross this water feature without getting fur — or skin — wet.
Others prefer the more leisurely pursuits.

If your dog is prone to getting hot, a doggy door lets them come and go whenever they please.
... Otherwise, a window that's low enough lets you see when they're ready to come in.

After a day outside, hose 'em down in their own dog-themed bathroom (complete with wallpaper).
Tip: So you don't have the square footage to devote a whole room to your pup. We hear you. A hand-held shower head is all you really need to convert your people bathroom into a pup–friendly one too.

This stainless steel wash area is easy to clean and has steps to allow easy access.
No steps at all works well too, especially for older dogs. Other dog–friendly details here include a rack for hanging leashes and — wait, are those paw print tiles I see?
The Brick House's Iggy demonstrates a strong puppy talent: finding the warmest sun spot in the house and spending the day in it.
See what I mean?
This guy has the same idea.
If you spend a lot of your time in the living room, why not have a designated area for your pets there also? These two seem pretty happy with theirs.
Food, bed, TV all in one place — if this was for a human, we might be concerned. For a pup, it is a model of efficiency.
But let's be real: More often than not they just end up on the couch anyway, right?
Whether they've got the best seats in the house...
... Or are relegated to the floor, they'll be happy to be by their people.
(Don't worry; despite the puppy dog eyes, the carpet keeps it perfectly comfortable down there.)

Another popular spot? The kitchen. Chance of dropped morsels and lickable areas: high.
It may look clean now, but this pup is willing to wait it out.
Someone's on high alert in this kitchen.
Playing the cute card. I know that trick!
Houzz Facebook fan Sonia shared this pic of her pooch Pancho hanging out in the kitchen.
Pup pillows abound in our Houzz homes. From the detailed...
... To the patterned ...
... Silhouettes... (You can find one just like this pillow at Serena and Lily.)
... And utterly one of a kind, we like to have our four-legged friends represented. (This one is a vintage needlpoint the designer turned into a pillow.)
And why not celebrate them? After all, they're always there to greet you after a long day...
... With a lick...
... And the wag of a tail.
This window seat combines several of your dog's favorite pastimes: It's a spot for sunning, napping and patiently waiting until you return.
