quilt from baby pajamas
Comments (9)I posted a reply earlier but don't see it anywhere. I am so pleased that I didn't purchase the polycotton. Was at the store looking at what they had and it didn't feel right to go with the pajama fabric, so told hubby who was with me that I was going to go home and post on the Quilting Forum for advice. The pajamas are different types but all stretchy and I also used part of some of her onesies. I am now considering either the flannel or 100% cotton. Going to take a square from the quilt when I go out of town (an hr drive away) to see what I can find at the fabric store there. Not much around here anymore in fabrics. I like the dark purple squares and have a couple more to include but think I am going to send DIL a photo and see what she has to say about the dark ones. I am also considering exchanging the car square with the pink centre one. That one is a girl with a bicycle that I cut from her onesie that I gave her. The car square does stand out better for the center. I already have the Warm and White batting purchased. I think it is 80/20 but not sure. Couldn't find anything on the bag it is in that says that but doesn't matter, I have to preshrink it, Its says 3% shrinkage. I purchased 2 of those from Joann's 50% off so got a pretty good price even with the cost of shipping it to Canada. I have plans for making another quilt for her big sister. . Thanks for the advice and more opinions are welcome if anybody has any other ideas of what might work. I will definitely post a picture of it once the quilt is finished. I have everything put aside until I can find the fabric I need....See MoreUpdate on Little Girl's Baby Quilt
Comments (23)Thanks so much, your praise is very validating. I always know when I like something a lot. It's entirely different to get other folks' feedback, I'm certainly no longer objective AT ALL! Kate, Magothy, sorry I went too fast to stop & say thanks for asking & noticing I've been mostly gone of late. Largely quilting, gardening, working full time & lately rehabbing a big knee injury. Still the Quiltworks go on & I'm taking on greater role at my local Quilt Guild making connections & getting to know the upper echelon of the Group. Magothy, I'm not familiar w/ the Lazy Angle ruler, will have to look it up. Just used a 2 piece template after rotary cutting strips & fussy cut backgrounds to color match like yellow accents around yellow stars, lavender kitties around purple stars, pink piggies around pink stars, etc. Do any of you happen to have any personal connections w/ folks at pattern companies? Am considering trying to offer this pattern commercially, if I can figure out how to go about it. Hi Dan the man, Loved the hands clapping, really made me smile!!!...See MoreQuilting input please
Comments (22)Beverly, What stitch are you using? On the close up it looks very interesting. I don't think I have the stitch but I have a bernina and there is supposed to be a stitch to mimic a hand quilting stitch. I will have to look for instructions-seems I tried it once but it wasn't particularly wonderful. By the way your quilt is pretty. I like the D9P and your colors are lovely. Comments (24)Its funny you point that out biwacko, I thought long and hard about that joint. I wanted various spacings (to make it wonky) and this is the only zero space. I had one other at one point and ended up changing it to only one. I decided I liked the extreme variation between that and the pair below with 4 spaces. The problem with spinning it is that it would exactly match the one above it. I even specifically used the one with the darker background to help with the separation. (Like I said, all my i's.....) Anyway, after all this rambling, I thank you for the suggestion but its already sewn, so too late. I like that we both noticed this though. Does this jump out at anyone else? Faye...See Morefran1523
