I think that's a great idea! I rarely change thread color when quilting but whenever I see it, I really like it.

I think it would look great also. I suggest you be consistent and carry sewing the purple thread on all the green including the border. It would make the green the focal point. I really like your quilt-pretty fabrics!

Beverly, if you are willing to change thread colors, I would match the color of the thread to the fabric color. That being said, I think cream colored thread would look great all over.

That's pretty, I really like the way you arranged the blocks.
I don't like to change thread either.
I think all over cream would look good, but then that's my taste.
But kiddies like bright and I love purple and green together.
Try one or two blocks on the end with the purple/green combo and see how it looks.

I think that will be pretty, just like adding embroidery. I don't know how well the purple will show up as purple on the green--it might just read as 'light' but what the heck? Are you going to keep cream in the bobbin? Machine-o-phobe that I am, I'd be worried little green dots would show up on the back. Ooooo, tension is scary for me

Since you started with the cream already, I would keep going on with that also. I like to use variegated thread when I do children's or baby's quilts if the colors are bright, but if the colors are more muted like this one, I would stick with a more muted thread color overall. BTW, I like that vine pattern in the fabric shown close-up.

I think you are right to stick with the cream this time around.

Cream it is. DH said there was too much blue in my green thread and he doesn't like colored thread in quilting anyway. So here it is so far. I took a picture before removing the blue quilting lines since that part doesn't show very well. All that is left is to remove the blue lines, trim and bind. There are 12 different geometric shapes and the border is done with ovals.

I'd use cream, also. It's going to be lovely. As I said before, those colors together inspire me. And, folks, the purple is much brighter than the photo shows.

I like what you did. I was going to suggest just one, a dark green but the cream works as well. I don't believe that the lavender would have had much effect. TFS. Jayne

What stitch are you using? On the close up it looks very interesting. I don't think I have the stitch but I have a bernina and there is supposed to be a stitch to mimic a hand quilting stitch. I will have to look for instructions-seems I tried it once but it wasn't particularly wonderful.
By the way your quilt is pretty. I like the D9P and your colors are lovely.

Thanks,Sally, I think the stitch is called a triple stitch. I use it for rag quilts and when I want the stitches to stand out. It is 2 stitches forward, 1 back, 2 forward, ... On my Singer they called it a stretch stitch. I like that it makes a bold line for outline stitches.

I'm on my 3rd D9P, this is my first bed quilt (twin) & I've been thinlking ahread to how to proceed after its pieced. I'm just finishing my blecks. Anyway, I brign his up to say aklmopst feel a but like a DPexpert & w/ that in mind I commend you on a job beautifully done.

I have that stitch. I have used it but thought of it as a very short stitch. I just lengthened it and it looks like yours and I like it. That is just one of the reasons we all need each other. :)
