Starting Powder Room Mini- Remodel (PICS) - Need Input Please
Comments (6)Thanks Busybme. I was just thinking the same thing today after doing some remeasuring, that I could fit a 3 light bar fixture in the space I have. Here is a pic of the Duchess 3 light fixture but I turned it upside down for the downlight effect. Only issue I see reversing the light is needing more room above the arched mirror since the lamp shades will be running into the mirror top. I am leaning toward the first mirror too, but I haven't been able to actually see one in person yet to verify the finish color. I would have to order online and hope it will work. Still thinking about the mirror type and finish that would look best. I think the second mirror choice would be "safe" but I am feeling the urge to get a little more dramatic than that! Thanks everyone for the good comments. I have posted this on the decorating board and am getting suggestions there too. Gsciencechick I am going to check out that Moen faucet. I also found a Delta faucet yesterday that looks like it would work too. Only problem I am having is that my current TP holder is the recessed type built into the drywall. I am having a hard time finding one of those in a nice antique bronze type finish. I have seen one in ORB but it looks almost black and I really prefer the more brownish rustic bronze look for the faucet and other bath accessories. I may have to have the drywall patched and just go with a standard TP holder which can be found in more finish choices....See MoreInput on Kitchen Remodel Color Scheme and Samples
Comments (17)Wow, what a number of great responses and suggestions! Thanks to everybody! I am beginning to agree the light box will have to go, I'm just having trouble envisioning what type of lighting will take its place. My appliances have already been ordered and the double oven and microwave was installed just last week, so I am locked into the black appliance look, which I really don't mind. I did originally think I would go with the biscuit colored Blanco siligranit kitchen sink, but once I saw the Ladylux Cafe faucet with the black accents, my black appliances and the black streaks in my granite, I decided I would get the black siligranit sink to tie in with those elements. Especially being an undermount, only the sink bowls will be visible and the granite on top I think will help to balance it out from looking too dark. The idea to find another use for my light box is a good one. It has the same crown molding in cherry wood that is on my cabinets so I hate to just trash the thing if it can be recycled somehow. Will definitely think on that for ideas. I still feel the tug to put some type of wallpaper border around the soffit on top the cabinets next to the ceiling....but that is still my 80's thinking talking. Trying hard to think out of the box! I am definitely planning to keep the backsplash and wall paint a more neutral, creamy light tone to pull out the lighter areas of the granite and I also will keep all my window casings, doors and doorway frames painted white. I could paint one whole wall in the kitchen a slightly different color than the rest, which I hear is a popular trend nowdays. One wall of the kitchen, which my pictures don't show, has a gas log fireplace which has a reddish rustic brick front with a solid wood mantle and upper wall wood panels and molding painted white. There is a custom built cherry book shelf/storage cabinet on one side of the fireplace and the wallpapered wall on the other side which leads into the sunroom. I will have to post that pic too so you can all see what I mean. Not sure what I should do with the wall space on the left of the fireplace. I want to start looking also at electric switchplates and see if I can get my electrician friend to relocate some boxes for me. I would love to update the switchplates to dimmers where possible and the newer color coordinated or textured plates, plus add some new undercabinet lighting. Keep the ideas coming! It really helps to try to see the kitchen I've been looking at for 19 years through fresh eyes!...See MoreGranite decision "was" made...but I'm still torn...help please.
Comments (27)This is the Blue Astral that I'll be using in my half bath. It is almost translucent when polished. Just incredible. Never have seen anything like it and the yard says it's very rare and they will probably not ever see any like it again. It's not like the Big flower I posted above. It's from the same quarry, but was mined years before the the big flowers. mcocean- googled your white and it looks like a great stone with movement. What are your plans? hobokekitch- your right it is blingy and the green is amazing. Plus I actually like the other blue astral a bit better. Karin mt- blue is a semiprecious stone and agree that my kitchen will be better off with a green that will work better with the wood and the style of the house. I too loved the bling factor!! Laura15- I know, you look back, you go back. It's a saying for a reason! AnnaC54- yes, I can't believe how many trips I've made back and forth to the yard there. Not much around here. So it's 1 1/2 hours in each direction. I know every inch of the place. It's unique, the guy who owns it travels around the world for his pieces and he has about 4000 on site. Crazy inventory for an out of the way yard in a rural state. Please post a picture of your Seafoam. would love to see. I will post my results also!...See MoreTorn between 2 cabinet colors- help!
Comments (19)10-12 years ago we looked at a lovely home with gray cabinets and thought they were aweful today we think gray is really nice but that reaction still hangs in our mind....i think you should pick the color you really like and not worry about the rest, but make sure you're choosing what you like and not what the trend is now nice colors.........See Morerobo (z6a)
