Mudroom Locker Ideas?
Comments (32)pps7-we had porcelain look slate in our last house and it did hold up great so that's what I have been leaning toward again. But - you are correct it is more pricey. Can you tell me more about your real slate? I'm concerned about the clefts - chipping, harder on feet, harder to clean? Any of those true? Do you walk barefoot on it no problem? I am thinking with the divots and clefts it might trap dirt more readily. ??? The coloring of natural slate is beautiful. I have looked at it several times over but too concerned with the above to make the jump. We will have significantly more flooring this time around so cost is definitely a factor. Comments (13)I used Teresa's Green in a hallway that leads from the garage to the mudroom bathroom and laundry room. It's a narrow hallway with virtually no natural light, a 10' ceiling, and a built in desk and cupboard area. I gave it a multi-colored crystal fruit chandelier for interest, but the built in light over the desk area is fluorescent and the hue gets a bit sickish under that light. At some point, I will have a back splash (been saving broken pieces of china for a mosaic) there, so I'm just ignoring that small area over the desk for now. So, yes, I think it could be a great color for your purposes. I used Blue Ground in most of the laundry room, which has drab northern light, shaded by trees to boot, and needed a lot of zip, after trying 400,000,000 samples of magnificent, heart-breaking periwinkle and cornflower blues that all turned gray-green in that north-facing room....See MoreHelp! Comments (4)I would consider putting doors b/w Laundry Room and the Mudroom. It may not bother you, but I don't like having my dirty (or clean) laundry on display for everyone to see when using the Mudroom. The above looks a lot like SoonerMagic's Mudroom from 2008......See MoreEntryway/Foyer/Mudroom for Open Home
Comments (3)You have a beautiful home! IMO, the natural spot is the storage closet area. I'm a fan of a clean entryway so I'd keep coats, jackets behind door(s) to reduce the visual clutter. Either use the closed storage you have now and place a bench under the picture, or open it all up and create a space similar to the one AuntThelma suggested. Another suggestion for opening the space up and creating a grander entry: change the swing of your front door so the handle is by the sidelight window. Since you're handy, you can leave the light switches where they are and install Lutron Pico wireless switches by the window and easily operate the lights....See Morekaitie09
