This is from a floorplan we had been working on. It's 15'6 wide, plus the 3' for the COSTCO Closet. 10'7" top to bottom. There were some ceiling height considerations in my case, as a bonus room over the garage had some stairs there. Entry from garage at the bottom, entry into hallway of this home at the top. The Fridge could be removed for Hanging/Folding area, and no powder room in my plan. But we were headed down the same road as you - Laundry, Drop Zone counter area, Sink with outside window, bench, etc. Just sharing a similar idea we had worked on.

Your inspiration photos seem to solve your needs. A long bench, with drawer or basket storage below and a double hook (possible a shelf) beneath each window, would give you a lot of storage. You may even have room to add a tall, pull out cabinet at each end or you could modify the closet to have a pull out as well as hanging area. You could add ceiling height, deep cabinets over your washer and dryer and a countertop for folding. If you must have a hamper, as in your pictures, buy a decorative one and store it under your window. After that, just add a rug and it would look great.

Thank you for the comments and suggestions. I would like to address a couple things. Our eat-in area is sufficient for 10 people. I have custom built in benches and a table in he nook area. If I went ahead with the plan to close the dining room, I could always use the open office space across the foyer. It doesn’t lend itself to “office” work anyway. Our front walk is quiet long with a side entry garage, this is the reason most people don’t use the front door. If I were to have a formal occasion, I would certainly close the garage and have people enter this way. However, we very rarely have any formal guests or gatherings that would call for the formal dining room or formal entry. My laundry/mudroom area is very small and there’s no room for style as is (washer/dryer) cabinet for some cleaning supplies. I should also point out, this house has no extra closet space, meaning the closets in the bedrooms are it...no linen closet, utility closet, nothing. Right now, any mop, broom, vacuum, etc are in the spare bedroom closet and in the corner of the tiny pantry. I’m just trying to maximize my kitchen area without having to change the kitchen. I thought a butler’s pantry/entry could do that. I see that I should possibly look at other options.

Once you move the coats, you could install cabinets in an L shape, starting where the coats now hang. You will have a blind corner, but how convenient would it be if you have a countertop front the edge of the door to the wall? Hang tall cabinets above the counter to store laundry supplies on the lower shelves and less used items on the upper shelves. Your woodwork is beautiful and the proper cabinets built and stained to match would be stunning as well as useful. For the wall where the picture now is, you could have a coat closet built to fit the space. In our old house, we kept the chair rail and notched the back of our custom coat closet so we didn’t damage the chair rail. You can protect your bead board if you just set the closet in front and only use minimal fasteners to attach it to the wall.
