First Succulent Garden, need help identifying
Comments (5)I'll confirm that the top left is Haworthia fasciata. For the bottom left, I would guess an Adromischus of some kind. I'll confirm that bottom right looks a lot like an Echeveria, though I think it may be 'Moonglow.' (Though -- cultivar names aren't always very stable / reliable, so it could well be one, the other, both, or neither.)...See Moreneed ideas on scrapbook page... need lots and lots of help !!!!
Comments (5)I found some really great "calligraphy" pens at Michaels. I can't remember the name or brand, but they have a pen tip at either end...for a smaller and larger calligraphy look. You have to practice some to learn how to hold the pen but I really love the look much much better than my plain hand-writing (which I HATE when I journal). They provide a more personal touch (look) to the page then printing calligraphy style on the computer (which is also a nice idea). Like Jill, I usually like to matt what I journal, depending on the page. If your cousin just graduated from Med school, could you somehow incorporate something from her "soon to be profession"? Perhaps you could make (scrape) a nice looking professional business card with her name, the date she graduated, her title etc.? I'm not too up on graduating med students so maybe she has to complete her residency, but maybe you could include smaller photos of where she will work or complete her residency on the page (in the background or superimpose photos of her on top of these smaller ones)? For something a bit more comical, maybe you could get a photo(s) of her with friends or family "using" her medical tools from her black bag with a humorous title page or a funny lyric or poem? I love to matt a lot of my photos and I also love to try (try being the key operative word here)and make up poems or rhyme when I journal. I think you could have a lot of fun and still have some very elegant and "fun" pages. Good luck! Send us a link for your completed pages so we can save the ideas...I'll need one in about 14-16 years!...See MoreMy First Succulent Terrarium - Need Advise and ID Please
Comments (48)Thanks azt, I love the colors! contrasting cobalt blue from your bonsai pots and the bright green bouncing off your haw! I think David mentioned Haws need DEEP pots for their roots grow downwards. I love the concept, but I might eventually repot this bonsai pot for other succulents, maybe for my jade. I got them off etsy for about $5.99. :D https://www.etsy.com/listing/211039314/bonsai-pot-5-ceramic-pk-only-1-pot-not-a?ref=shop_home_active_23 Stonetreehouse - cute little set up there! love the teapots...See MoreFirst time succulent owner in need of MAJOR help!
Comments (6)Very basic requirements to grow succulents are good drainage - both well draining mix and the container with drainage holes. If left in that teacup, you may have problems sooner or later - unless one has really good experience, making sure it is getting proper amount of water is hard to 'guesstimate'. Ppl often say: I water just few drops...I water very seldom...or something similar, since they are afraid of plant rotting. Watering in sips doesn't give enough moisture to the roots. Plants should be watered, when needed, well. Excess water should not sit at the bottom. Next requirement is good air circulation - many succulents will do well in higher temps, but most dislike high humidity. And finally, plenty of light - it will vary for some species; many will prefer full sunlight, some rather dappled....See Morerina_Ontario,Canada 5a
