high chill fruit varieties in low chill regions - success stories

James

There have been some great posts over the years here on winter chill. I thought it might be helpful to share any success stories we have had in growing high chill varieties in low chill regions.

I am planning on doing some experimenting in Rancho Bernardo, CA, with 150-400 chill hours, especially with apricots but also cherries, apples, walnuts, almonds, etc. If you have beat the chill expectations, let us know the variety and your chill hours.

I beat chill expectations in Blenheim, Earli-Autumn, and Autumn Royal (growing well, healthy, produced fruit despite only being planted 2 years prior, no signs of insufficient chill).
