I think baby blue and red is a great color combo, so fun for a little girl. I would leave the walls, look for bedding in that combo, get a striped rug.

Here are two i found

a) blue and red are fab together. especially: mint and coral red..scarlet red and navy..baby blue and strawberry red..imagine color of these big summer flowers, of course I forgot their name, on the sky background..i'm not sure i'd repaint the walls at all-i'd look for the red to work with it. maybe changing the rug if it doesn't support the new scheme

b) white walls are actually great choice for a toddler. Very soon there's going to be tons of art she'll make by herself..trying colored pencils, and pastels, and markers, and paints, and finger painting, and whatnot. Fill her walls with her own art..:) The white can be as great a background for that as many other colors will be. (including the existing blue)

Kids love to see what they've created much more, than what we've created for them..

Yes, to white walls. You can bring in the red and black bedding and in a few years change it out to almost anything.

I don't remember my DD's dirtying up the walls in their bedrooms. Paint lasted for years until we were ready to redecorate.

The ladybug with blue is really cute and her room is currently painted that same watery color. The only thing is that the walls NEED to be repainted-- too many nicks and stuff but I wouldn't be against keeping the color.

I have decorated my 4 year old's room with his own art and he loves it-- so I was not planning on going overly themed or anything with her room. I just want to make it look like we did not get lazy and give her his old room by keeping it blue.

Would white walls work with white trim and white furniture? I would be afraid it would be too white.

cplover, I think you can get lazy all you wish)) but if you do decide to go for white-yes , white walls white trim and white furniture usually work perfectly well (unless one white is very cold blueish white, and another is too yellow or something..but that rarely happens) what's true-such room needs to be kept tidy with more..vigor I'd say. But same is with baby blue..

Now dark walls are cool in that regard..it's all instantly mysterious, bohemian, and mess seems to be wow, treasures! I did that trick when my DD was a teenager..a very untidy one at that..:)

What about light grey walls? They will go with anything. Red/white/black now for ladybugs/Minnie Mouse and then you can take it Parisian or goth or whatever when she hits the tween/teen years. My dd's formerly pink room was painted grey when she hit 13.

Jesshs- I am actually considering gray but my son's room is gray my kitchen/dining area is a blue-green gray, my master bedroom is a grayish blue, and my master bath is gray. Was wondering if I had too much gray! lol

Nini804- that is exactly why I was hesitant to do ladybugs at first because red and black can be harsh, especially for a little girls room AND considering it is a small room. I would love to go soft gray or even lavender for the walls-but would prefer to avoid repainting in a few years if purple is not her thing. I thought maybe a compromise color would be BM abalone-- a neutral that can lean purple.

I like the blue and would probably prefer that over white, especially if you are wanting to avoid the red, black and white. Though I would have no problem with the red, black and white. I think that could be an adorable little girl's room. I think it is more how you use the colors than necessarily the colors themselves.

I love aqua and red together. It's a retro color combination.
