What's For Supper on this Good Friday?
Comments (16)Had my next door neighbors over. They are an older couple that moved in just a few days after we did almost 15 yrs. ago. She just spent almost 3 months in Puerto Rico tending to her ill mom who did eventually pass 2 wks ago. He loves my Cuban cooking so I made him Ropa Vieja (old clothes!), actually just a shredded beef with spices and lotsa garlic, white rice, cuban bread and butter and a touch of the south with Sweet Potatoes, my style. She brought dessert... Blackberry Pie with Vanilla icecream. Stuffed!...See MoreSupper Time on Friday!
Comments (13)Happy birthday, PK! At what beach are you? We live close to Surfside....and sort of close to Galveston. My husband is working, cleaning of the engine in a shrimp boat that sunk that belonged to his friend. He said it should have only taken 3 hours....and this is the fifth day they have worked on it. I didn't ask what, but evidently ran into some problems. He didn't come home, so I took him some clean clothes. I went by a HEB store and bought fresh orange juice, a piece of cake and guacamole and chips. That was my supper. I bought 3 lb of chicken hearts for the possums....See MoreWhat's for supper.....Friday?
Comments (8)We were going to have a cold dinner of last nights roast chicken leftovers, whatever else I could find in the refrigerator. Lots of odds and ends, berries, yogurt, blue cheese dressing and lots of salad fixings.... A friend down the street walked in a couple of hours ago and said it had felt like a 'chili' July day. He had chili in a slow cooker, and if you can believe it....the sour cream, shredded cheese, diced onions, hot sauce all in little bowls. Cornbread, butter, honey. I asked him why he thought he needed to bring cheese, onion, butter, honey to my house (it's not like cupboards are bare here ;0) and he said he just wanted to make sure everything was on hand. We dropped what we were doing (I was cleaning my office), we sat down, ate. We're having a group here for pastitsio, pizza, salad on Tuesday. I'd better call his wife and invite them too....See MoreSupper Time on Friday!
Comments (21)We were out of town running errands today, it was Costco day. Couple of other stops, when I'd planned for Friday earlier in the week I'd forgotten it would be Veterans Day and everyplace would be crowded and with sales. I'm not great with crowds ;0) and the lines to pay at Penney's were silly long but we did accomplish what we'd set out to do. Pulled off in a little town about halfway home to a Mexican restaurant we knew to be good, just had a very quick dinner there....See More
