REPOST: I am really bummed out.... (trying again!)
Comments (12)This disease was discovered in 1941 in parts of the USA and Canada according to a site I found. Another site I found talks about using the disease to eliminate the invasive multiflora rose. It's a good idea as it crowds out native plants and could be a problem for farmers, but not so great an idea for us rose growers. This site is the one I've linked, It is chock full of other info, so if you use the find and replace mode by clicking and holding down the ctrl key on your keyboard, and then pressing the F key, then using the word "rosette" you will find the info. I wonder if that's why there is very little really to combat the disease on garden roses. Farmers have different needs than gardeners, and I do understand why they would want to eliminate multifloras, instead of get rid of the disease. After all land is money for them. It's like the wolves are good wolves are bad debate, good when it comes to thinning out diseased deer etc, and bad when they eat livestock. Of course the livestock is money in that case, but the wolves are native. No easy answers sometimes. Yeona, a rose lover, (love the length, variety and color of bloom) and hater, (hate the diseases, blackspot especially) in one. Comments (2)They're called Foo dogs. The value will depend on whether they are original, and what period they are, and what condition they are in. They may be copies, but to my inexperienced eye if they are, they seem to be good ones. It would take an expert to tell. Take them to an antique dealer for a valuation. If you can't get to one, a dealer might be prepared to give a tentative opinion by email if you include a good clear picture of the bottoms of the items. Genuine quality material generally has some sort of markings on the bottom -- although some copies do, too. You have probably seen this page on Etsy: https://www.etsy.com/listing/469949774/antique-chinese-glazed-porcelain-foo?ga_order=most_relevant&ga_search_type=all&ga_view_type=gallery&ga_search_query=chinese%20foo%20dogs&ref=sr_gallery-1-30 Very similar-looking dogs. You could do worse than contact the dealer for an opinion, I think. Good luck!...See MoreHi, I am trying to find out what type of chandelier this is?
Comments (3)Hard to tell the size of the fixture from the picture? The size will impact its value. Its a classic polished brass chandelier. It is probably worth whatever anyone is willing to pay for it. I assume you are removing and replacing and want to sell it. Don't expect to get anywhere near what it cost. Maybe you can take it to a consignment shop....See MoreHelp! I am trying to pick out a wallpaper for powder room.
Comments (4)Like any of these? (I love all of them, and you should probably get some samples. But I like the last one because I think it may tie in with the floors nicely. As will the first. )...See More- 7 years ago
