Would you please put up a link to FORUMS on your main page tool bar? Having to first click on "advice" is not very intuitive. I am wishin' and hopin' that there will be an easily findable FAQ for posting messages, photos, editing, and changing the name everyone sees on a post. I have learned a lot so far from reading many posts, (some in the bathroom forum) but it would be helpful to have it all in one place. There is probably more info to be had in other busy forums. Most of us are asking the same questions, but in different forums, and probably driving you nuts having to answer the same questions over and over. I notice changes each day, and having one place to go to have those changes explained would ease the burden of trying to figure this place out. During this BIG transition time a more prominent "contact us" link would help. Thank you. -Babka

I've had that page come up, but only since the move to Houzz. I'm on an iPad (iOS 8, Safari browser). It only comes up intermittently, and only when I use my back button. If I click on any of the links it returns me to Houzz. I thought it was some kind of 'ghost' popping up because they're working with the software. Edited to add: I'm pretty sure the one I've been seeing has the GW headings listed. I'll pay more attention if it happens again.

Thank you all! I will use my phone to send my icon to others, thanks Raven. All the rest, I will delete this app. I am not sure how I got the app on my phone. I do have all the GW forums saved in my search engines. So I'm good to go there. Its just when I want someone to find GW, I've been telling them its part of Houzz. Everyone know Houzz it seems, so thats what I reference. I will stop telling them its part of Houzz and just tell them to search Garden Web in their browser. I don't know what I would be like these days if it wasn't for GW, LOL. It has been so helpful, kind, and motivating. Sometimes over these last 6 or so years, it has been a real stabilizing part of my life when I've needed a port in the storm.

People who need to know a particular tree wants to grow over 60 ft. tall where conditions permit are those wanting to plant the same kind where there is room for one about 15 ft. tall. Something that happens a lot, particularly when many appear to think "big tree" = 15 ft. The physical demonstration of genetic programming recorded by those measuring fully developed examples illustrates the inherent character of trees being considered. Doesn't matter if they don't all grow 100 ft. tall everywhere, when even half that would overwhelm the planting site. Or that it might take 50 years for them to get big. It costs thousands of dollars to hire a qualified tree service to remove one big tree in a developed setting, where it can't just be sawed through at the base and allowed to fall where it may. And left to rot. Why ever choose a tree for an inadequate space, when a smaller kind could have been planted instead? Denial that a particular kind does often loom large does not prevent this problem from developing down the road. Plants that burn - or worse - every time there is a sharp winter may not really qualify as landscape staples. Certainly not as the ironclad, fail-proof unchanging purchases probably nearly all non-hobbyists are visualizing at the time they bring landscape plants home and install them. Hence the value of pointing out specific items aren't, in fact totally hardy - as in never damaged by cold. This is why there are hardiness rating systems and hardiness categories like fully hardy, half hardy and so on - people want to know where each plant falls on the spectrum, what to expect.
