iPhone owners! What is your favorite apps?
Comments (38)golddust, if you get into problems of a more technical nature, don't know if you know about crackberry, but their forums are outstanding for phone problems. It's mostly geared toward berries but they do have Droid & iPhone forums now. There are a lot of people trying to get their VZW iPhones up and running. Think I read some issues with syncing and what worked for some. See "vzw iphone just arrived" thread....See MoreHow do I get emails sent to me? How do I get followups sent to me?
Comments (0)Getting Emails Sent To You...3-step Process There are three things you have to do to get emails sent to you when someone posts to a thread you started: Be sure you have a valid/current email address in your profile Again in your profile, be sure you have the "Allow other users to send you email via forms at our site." box checked (at the bottom of the profile page) Be sure to check the box labeled "Check here if you would like copies of follow-ups to your message emailed to you" when you submit your post. (Below the "Message" box) Hmmm...maybe a 4th step...don't forget to "Save Your Member Profile" when you make changes! (button at bottom of profile page) If you do all 3 (or 4!) things, you should get an email when someone posts to your message. Note: Some members have said they still have problems getting emails. I seem to always get emails, but I have noticed that occasionally there will be a several hour delay and once there was a several day delay...I don't know why. Also, check your Junk Mail, sometimes the emails end up there. Add "gardenweb_user@gardenweb.com" to your "safe senders" list as well. If you still don't get emails, check with your internet service provider and be sure emails from GW are not being filtered out as junk before they get to you....See MoreHow do you get to conversations from Houzz?
Comments (13)The link that raven posted takes you to the Houzz set up of the conversation pages but because it's the old GW forum it seems no body but GW people are on it. i changed computers a couple of months ago and both Hot Topics and the Kitchen Table are still the GW format but I think that's because there is no Houzz equivalent. But everything else, H&D conversations, Kitchens and Home/Decorating are Houzz format. I can't get back to GW kitchens or Home/decorating so I don't even bother going there anymore. And, yes, I cleared cookies, etc, etc. I used to use bookmarks, transferred them over from the old computer and they no longer worked....See MorePlease help get me back to GW kitchen table and out of Houzz
Comments (13)If you fire up your old macbook and you're still signed into gardenweb using Firefox, you may be in luck. If you are logged in using Firefox I could do a more step-by- step on how to locate the cookie file. Firefox makes it easy to locate the correct folder. Another way to find troubleshooting info by going through the hamburger menu. (the three lines) Or even better: about:support Then you'll see where to open the profile directory and find the file. I don't like Chrome either but probably for a reason that doesn't matter to most anyone else. (I prefer tabs on bottom, Firefox lets me do that, Chrome does not) The error you posted is the one I get. Other browsers might word it differently but it's the same error. Anyone that does not have trouble with gardenweb(dot)com links, it's because you haven't logged out, either intentionally or inadvertently. Unless Houzz fixes it, sooner or later everyone will be using houzz(dot)com. I like the way gardenweb is styled better than houzz so I'll use it until I can no longer use it. I can picture the techs pulling their hair out and cussing every time they make a change on houzz that breaks something on gardenweb. Anyone that is logged in using gardenweb(dot)com and prefers it over houzz(dot)com, don't log out or clear cookies. :-) "If you can get in on chrome you’re leaps ahead of me!" I missed that. Same here. Maybe in whatever way the OS update messed up Firefox, it just didn't mess up Chrome? Perhaps sitting beside a new Firefox profile is an old Firefox profile with a logged in gardenweb cookie? I might go to the currently active Firefox profile by going through "Troubleshooting information" as above then hit the up arrow and look for another profile directory. Inside that older profile might be a cookies.sqlite file that once pasted into the active directory, would switch you to signed in. (close Firefox before pasting the replacement cookie file, then start it back up) Probably too much to hope for... but worth a look see?...See MoreBunny
