I actually don't have that many. I like my AAA discount app, because now I can actually find where I can get a discount LOL. I also use the facebook mobile app and a photo app. I'll be interested in the answers here so maybe I will pick up some new apps too!

I have a different smartphone, but one of my most used apps is Yelp. I also use my phone as a GPS navigator.

Scrabble is my fave! But, I mostly play it on my ipad. I will have to check out some of caroloh's.

Goldy, you were so lucky to be able to preorder. I tried...and tried.

Ollie, I also enjoy Scrabble and Solitaire on the addicting Ipad. I figure the Iphone will not be as addicting since the screen and keyboard are so small, I can't see much!

Marlene, I ordered it the morning of the 3rd with no problems. I did hear they suspended the pre-orders after a certain amount but heard you can order them again on Wednesday.

I am thrilled to get in before the big rush. I need to set it up on a different number than I ordered it on so I'm hoping not to have to wait in the lines at the store.

The apps sound interesting! A flashlight app? Really? Not sure how much I'd use it but it sounds cool. I have a portable navigator so don't want to pay for one on my phone. At $10. per month, my portable has long been paid for. LOL!

I have FB and email on my BB already but I haven't heard of most of the apps mentioned here. Is the alarm clock an app verses a feature?

I have an Android phone and my navigation is free! It worked really well for me last weekend in Portland. So nice not to have to mess with maps.

I also like the Amazon app. I use it to check reviews while looking at books at Costco.

The flashlight apps just make your screen all white at its highest brightness level. I have one but never really use it.

You can get a Kindle app that will sync to your Kindle (if you have one), so that if you leave your Kindle at home and want to read some of your current book on your phone - it is bookmarked where you left off.

Gold; a lot of the apps are available for the blackberry too.

The best app I have is the mobile Google & mobile google maps. The google maps has a built in GPS; you can use it for walking or driving.

Mobile ebay is my other favorite app

Goldie - many of those apps are free. The phone already has a "lantern", but I'm going to try the flashlight.

You can use a Kindle app without having a Kindle too. I have the app on my netbook, although I don't use it. Thought I'd try it out although I already thought a Kindle wasn't for me.

I don't use any game apps.

How does the IMDb work? I read something about Cloud? Do you get the updates online or on your phone - the reminders I guess I should say. I do use the list option on my iphone.

Some of them that I really like are: Pandora Radio, Yelp, AppBox Pro (many useful apps in one), the Weather Channel app, and various news ones (NYT, Huffington Post, msnbc, google, etc.). If I'm traveling, I also see if there is an app for that city; it can be VERY useful. Organize them into files and you're good to go. I love the phone, and I'm very jealous that you will have Verizon service!

Fave feature has to be maps (GPS) and the fact that I can get an email with an address in it, touch it and it sends me to the map, touch the map on the flag, get the phone number, touch the phone number and it dials, ah, bliss! Wonder where the closest bank, fast food, whatever is? Type it in on maps, it'll show where you are and where all those close to you are. Ab-fab. Also, it's the most up-to-date GPS around! Love it!

Runner-ups: Weatherbug, Facebook, CraigsPro, Free Apps, (free) books, DoGood, iGammon, Cut the Rope, iHandi Level, Doodle Movie, NFL Scores, At Bat Lite, FOX News, Trapster. Also, iWimbledon and US Open (when the tournaments are going on).

All free, I've never paid for an app.

I have resisted Angry Birds, because I hear it is so addicting!

Well, I spent the better part of my afternoon setting up my new iPhone. I ordered it using the account I have for Max, since he was out of contract.

I knew I had to change the phone number over to mine so I took it to the Verizon store for help. "You must register it first using iTunes, then come back." Home again...

After upgrading everything I needed to upgrade on my computer in order for it to communicate with the new iPhone, I hooked it up and it did it's thing. When complete, I put it back in the box and jumped in the car to go back to Verizon to activate it and change numbers. Half way there, the box started ringing! Sure enough, I had hijacked Max's phone. Great. No way to even contact him to let him know what is going on. I decided to stop at the Verizon closest to me instead of going back to the other store (that I like better) to get it resolved.

"Training for the iPhone won't happen until next month. You need to call this number from your iPhone, select option 3, Blah blah blah. "Could you write it down please? Also how do I get Max's BB working again? Could you write that down too, please?"

Well, after sitting in my car, pushing buttons, it became clear the man's instructions didn't work and wasn't going to ever work- so I headed back to the other Verizon store and within 5 minutes, they had me taken care of. Except for Max. I can't contact him and he must reactivate his phone. He doesn't have the info so I texted his girlfriend with an explanation. Hopefully he can get his phone back tonight when she sees him. I'm sure he has no idea what happened.

I really want to complain about the other store's customer service and plug the customer service at the store who fixed the problem immediately.

Tonight I have an updated operating system, updated Safari browser and the latest iTunes known to man. Oye. I'll know tomorrow if I like my new phone or not. I'm exhausted from dealing with it tonight.

Same thing happened with my activation, plus I spent 2 HRS(!!!) on the phone, but this was AT&T, LOL! Hang in there it will all be better in the am ;-)

I was told level from Verizon CS to very upper level Mgmt takes feedback received from [threat of permanent ban if I post the link] seriously and will respond. (I had nothing but problems for 6 weeks with their toll free CS and one corp store, but a different local corporate store had my problems fixed in a blink. I haven't sent feedback there yet, but need to, I wanted that store to get some recognition.

(Haven't seen that threat of ban screen in ages! If you want the link, click my ID and shoot me an email. And if you ladies trying to get oakley's thread taken down are reading, email me and I'll send you the link so you can post a big fat hint and get the attention of the powers that be ;)

I'd love to know how you like the iPhone and since you're rural if your reception is any different than on a berry. I thought I had to have an iPhone for years, but when I go back home to the country, Verizon is the carrier with least amount of dead zones. I've become very attached to my Bold, but that iPhone sure does look enticing & purdy. ;)

Wow Goldie! I can't believe you are having so much trouble with your phone! I didn't have any of that. My phone was activated at the store. There's an iphone tutorial online (as you know it doesn't come with much of a manual). Of course I have AT&T, but have had no problems with them. I think they must be good in our area. I'm pretty rural also, no dropped zones (so far - hope I don't jinx myself).

How is the threat of permanent ban made? Did you get it as you were typing this response? Or did you get it from a previous post?

I recently came into the 21st century and acquired an android (HTC EVO). I hadn't really played around with any of the apps until this thread prompted me to take a look, and I discovered Kindle on my phone. I've just downloaded my first book and am already addicted! I can see getting lots of use from that app. Thanks or starting this topic, goldie!

gw: I put the link in my post, hit Preview, and immediately got that message about certain sites being banned from reference here, try to post or circumvent in any way & you get banned permanently. I haven't seen that in years.

I just wanted to announce I'm having a BB Storm Smashing Party! It will be fabulous, I'll be decorating with lots of Locks, since my BB has been locking up since day 1 of ownership, way back when--when they first came out. I have been turning down opportunity after opportunity to rid it because I didn't want to start my contract clock ticking over again. I only have to wait 12 months for a new phone, but I never wanted to take the chance.

I am the proud owner of a new iPhone, it arrived Monday. It is is fabulous.

So far one of the coolest apps to grab is "google voice", there is a little icon on the screen of the app, it's a camera...you photograph what you want to search for and it will tell you what it is, where to buy it. If you see a book you want, just snap it, it will link you to all the places its available....like the wine you're having for dinner? snap it, it will tell you where to go buy more of it....and think, you can just order it...

Oh, I'm so in love now.

Yay! I'm liking mine more today than yesterday. LOL!! I'll check out google voice, for sure. So far, I have only downloaded facebook. LOL! Can't wait for the case I ordered to arrive and trying to figure out how to get my itunes music onto the phone.

My car has an ipod hookup I have never used so if I can get my music on my phone, I'll be in business. LOL!

Despised it with a passion. Finally Verizon offered me a Curve 8330 (technically a downgrade), but I didn't care, snatched it. Really good phone, too, people are still clinging to them. (I got pink, miss that color, lol.) Sadly, I dropped mine in a bucket of water.

Goldie - you just use the cable and hook phone to computer, then sync.

I just recently ordered a Paul Frank case. It's Julius the monkey!!! I love Julius! And it's pink!

I ordered this case before my iPhone got here. Hopefully it will arrive soon. It is nowhere near as cute as Julius in pink though!!!

golddust, if you get into problems of a more technical nature, don't know if you know about crackberry, but their forums are outstanding for phone problems. It's mostly geared toward berries but they do have Droid & iPhone forums now. There are a lot of people trying to get their VZW iPhones up and running. Think I read some issues with syncing and what worked for some. See "vzw iphone just arrived" thread.

I read today that the Verizon version of the iphone has the mute and volume buttoms a couple of millimeters different then the AT&T version so the cases might not be interchangable.

I read that too, happyladi. I ordered a case that claims it is for the Verizon version of the iPhone. I'm expecting it any day now.

Still no music but I have been distracted.

I hear Red Laser is outstanding! I've been waiting & hoping for a BB version, but think I read they only made a version that will work on newest BB, Torch. The reviews of any other apps like that for BBs aren't nearly as good.

I downloaded Nightstand Central as an alarm clock yesterday, it works well and has a few fun features.

forgot to add, shake the IPhone and the app has a flashlight.

I have the iphone now, but I really miss my Blackberry Bold. I hate texting on the iphone, the BB was much easier, but I hated the internet on BB, just can't see it as well on the BB. There are things I really DO like A LOT on the iphone though, and in the end I am glad I got it.

I am waiting for the white iphone, then DH gets my black one. He has my BB now, he gets all my hand-me-downs!
