Stainless steel finish on different brands
Comments (9)I actually went with the Frigidaire Professional series. It is real stainless, and the finish is different than there regular Frigidaire Gallery series. It does look more brushed, but softer brushed and not as "fake" as the other. They say it has some sort of coating on it so it doesn't show smudges and fingerprints and it really works. I would love to have a finish like my neighbors Kitchen Aid, but it smudges terrible and she is always wiping it down and that would drive me CRAZY. So this was my compromise. Comments (27)OK, I feel it is time to share what others can't see unless being in person or having close up pictures taken so everyone understands why I may need other changes eventually. I put accessories around the laminate sides up the wall to block the fact that my beautiful new gas range has nothing behind it. I feel my kitchen looks nice now and I am proud of the changes that I have made but in person some things still bother me about my kitchen. For instance, the 20 year old hollow veneered oak cabinet doors over the particle board/plywood frame needs to be refinished or have the doors replaced with new hinges since mine are worn out and some have rust on them. The doors are the type that are the half type of doors so the frame shows in between the doors so the frame must also be stained or painted to match. I am still wondering if I can paint them and add new hinges and new door knobs or if I can change out the doors or if I have to replace the cheap cabinets that the builder put into my home that cost so much. The counter is not in bad shape for being 20 years old and made of laminate but has some chips on the sides and a few scratches on the counter that do not bother me that much since most of the counter is in decent shape. The counter is a happy bright color that I always liked until I changed my appliances. My linoleum floors are in poor shape with deep cuts and a major rip by the sliding door from the extra locking bar that broke and kept falling on the floor. The bar finally ripped the floor a few years ago until I hired someone to give me a new locking bar. I did add the red rug and I was keeping a red tea pot on the range until I changed the range. I can put the red teapot back on the range. I also feel my kitchen needs some color but I am not sure what do do. If I paint the walls, then it will be more noticeable that the laminate counters go up the side of the walls but the gas range has no backguard. Unless I only paint the top of the walls above the cabinets and add a back splash behind the range? Comments (25)I'm currently in the process of deciding on kitchen appliances. Cake decorating is my serious hobby, but aside from that, I'm an everyday scratch cook for a family of 5. I'm trying to decide between the Bluestar Rangetop with one electric oven (Bluestar, Wolf M Series, or even Kitchenaid) plus the Wolf Steam Convection, a different range top plus the aforementioned ovens or a Bluestar Range (w/ the gas convection) and a Wolf Steam Combi. In considering how I cook, I don't know that the broiler would be a huge difference maker for me. Are you still loving your Bluestar Electric and do you find it bakes quite evenly without rotating? Again, I sometimes bake cookies, but for the most part I use my oven for roasting and baking cakes. I would love to be more proficient with bread for the family, but I'm pretty paleo so it's not a high priority for me. I would love to hear your feedback regarding Bluestar. On another note, we're also looking at a 36" all refrigerator Sub Zero, Perlick undercounter freezer and Kitchenaid dishwasher. Any commentary positive or negative on your other kitchen appliances would be welcome. Thanks!...See MoreTwo different shades of stainless steel
Comments (9)@wdccruise...first of all, I never called anyone stupid. That’s your word. A little touchy, are we? Secondly, just because “millions” of people buy those products, doesn’t mean they are the best quality. Far from it. And, I repeat, I wouldn’t touch those brands with a ten foot pole. I know you are a Whirlpool fanboy, I’ve seen at least 30 posts of yours, pushing that brand. However, it is the most complained about brand on this forum, along with Samsung and LG. Your propensity for calling all higher end products, “fancy pants,” is well documented, despite the fact that higher end appliances tend to have superior durability, and customer service. And, yes, I’ve seen posts where people say their spare fridge in the pantry, basement or garage, is one they’ve had for 25 or 30 years. That’s great, but Whirlpool ain‘t what it used to be. The recommendation on the forum, has always been to buy the best appliance you can afford. Refrigeration is certainly not the essential appliance to scrimp on....See MoreRelated Professionals
