Walking around the yard trying to decide what I need to do before 28 degrees hits here tonite and I spied Cats Cradle, and Bitsy. Don't think I can make either one bloom long in the house, but it was a nice surprise.

How did your late daylilies do? I have one, Web of Intrigue, that had one rebloom scape, 19 buds too Brad! It had its first bloom 11/1, & the next blooms were rather slow to bloom, then it had a little flurry of bloom right before the hard freeze. I didn't bother to bring it in, but somehow it survived the freeze. Still has a couple of buds, but these last few blooms have been very small.

Nancy, I had 3 blooms, each taking 2 days to open; rather grey instead of purple and didn't quite open completely. I brought it in, gave it plant food and had it in sun. 2 more bloomed a few days later on the same day and were as ugly as can be. I tossed them!

I have a blue Iris that Karen gave me a year or so ago that are ready to bloom. I hope they get to--I've not seen them yet.

I brought in a large armload of iris blooms just before that freeze last week and have been enjoying them inside. Filled 2 big vases, apparently fall blooms aren't as fragrant as spring blooms, which is a good thing for my husband. Hope your iris make it through. I left a few stalks of iris in the garden & they made it last week, I have a couple more getting ready to bloom, I may bring those in today.

So Iris bloom well cut? Mine have stopped maturing. Maybe I need to bring them in.

Sorry I didn't get back with you Brad. I hope you brought them in. I forgot to bring in the last of my iris, but iris do bloom quite well inside & can last a long time. I tend to keep my house just a bit cool, so that is probably why mine lasted so long. I threw out the last of them Friday. There were still some buds on them, but after the Thanksgiving todo, I was ready to let them go. If you don't have Daughter of Stars, Harvest of Memories, & earl of Essex, those are my best late bloomers. They are my most prolific multipliers too, guess that is because of the fall blooming.

Nancy, I finally brought mine in after forgetting day after day. By then the buds were wilted badly. I looked up your 3 Irises that you mentioned. Daughter of Stars is really beautiful! Earl of Essex is nice too. I'm not much on yellow, but for a yellow Harvest is nice.

Daughter of Stars is really much prettier in person. Photos make it look like a nice purple, but it almost looks textured in person, like suede or something. Really nice. Yeah, I'm not much on yellow either, but Harvest is such a busy bloomer & looks quite nice with the purples. If you would like any of these, let me know next spring. I'm sure I will have extras of these.
