New Electrolux Washers & Dryers
Comments (152)I was fortunate enough to see the 617 which our local mega dealer has on the floor. I am in NE Ohio. This machine certainly has eye catching appeal, and I don't get why no big box retailer dedicates floor space or stocks locally. Without seeing, touching, comparing, few buyers will purchase sight unseen. IMO the 70 series was feature laden with specialty cycles and stain treat options and a fantastic 3 slot custom memory. I get the impression Lux chucked the otherwise difficult to navigate interface of the 70 series, simplfied popular options, and gave it an overhaul chic appeal! It appears to be a very well built machine and drum looks to be identical to the 70 series. I am not so much sold on the detergent pre-mixing tank, especially if your a powered detergent or pod user. My concern is does the machine fill through the tank and effectively flush between uses, or is there a potential to have crud residue, and stench built up? Its difficult to differentiate between detergent and water in the sump, and sprayed on the load during fill as many machines do. The only advantage I see to the Lux system is perhaps a more complete mixing of detergent and water applied to the load uniformly. You could always bypass it and add product directly to the drum. My only other peeve is the display is not back lit and difficult to see, but not a deal breaker by any means. My overhaul impression is this machine is a winner and will have no problem compeating, that is providing the retailers allocate floorspace. It offers top tier features and P172 certificaton, at a price point (899.00) that is several hundred dollars less than the competion. I will look forward to actual usage reports....See MoreHelp: washers/dryers got larger but laundry rm didn't. How to fit?
Comments (3)We had a similar problem. (See laundry room puzzlement for problem and solution we came up with) Our biggest problem was the width, but depth was an issue as well. I just measured our Electrolux 60 series washer and dryer and from front to back installed it takes up 30 inches. My husband installed a different dryer vent cover and it is almost flush with the wall. The only problem we ran into is a weird dryer plug that was on the floor, but stuck out two inches. We ended up having to go higher with our platform than originally planned and now it is hard to reach the water shut off. Fortunately we have access behind the washer and dryer and we're having a plumber install a shut off switch in case of emergency. Maybe post pictures and people here can help you solve the problem....See MoreNeed help choosing a reliable washer within next couple of days
Comments (24)Thanks. I just checked the hoses and I think they may have actually changed it. My wife may have mistaken a different hose, but I'm not 100% sure. On the hose it has a date of March 2016. If that indicates when the hoses were made then they definitely switched it out. If it indicates a 'use before' date than it's probably the old one. They look in great condition so I'm guessing they are new. Anyway so far did 3 cycles. In terms of potential water hammering issues I'm not sure what I would have to listen for and when, but so far I haven't heard anything suspicious....See MoreNew Front Load Washer & Dryer...need this groups thoughts
Comments (41)I have 15-year-old front loader washer and dryer. We got the pedestals, and I have to say they are nice--I like the drawers underneath where my kids put their dirty socks and other unmentionables after sports practice. I also appreciate not bending over so far to get inside. Mine are one of the original frontloaders and I've had 2 repairs on them that I can remember. They perform very well but I'm careful to use HE laundry detergent and only half the amount, at most. I also don't vary the cycles much so I'm not challenging the electrical components (or so that's my theory). Because of their age, I know we're nearing the end of their lives but I'm willing to do a few more repairs unless they completely break down. I also blow them a kiss and thank them each time they complete a cycle. I swear this is the key. I keep my washer door cracked open a bit when not in use to avoid the smell. It makes sense if you think about it--to keep a FL leak-free during a cycle vs. a TL, the seal must be more tight when closed. A TL still has some air circulation when the lid is down....See Morepractigal
