My dream is coming true
Comments (12)Thanks everyone. I knew this was the right place to share my excitement with and be understood :) ~Candy - DH decided this is too big of project for him to take on by himself. The carpets have to be removed as well as baseboards and then the baseboards would have to be put back up. We are going with Lumber Liquidators and using their contractors for installation. They say it will take 3 days to complete the project. We are going with a thicker 12 mil product which should last us a long time. It's just the 2 of us and the small pup so we shouldn't be too hard them :) When we went to the showroom to order the price was actually lower than stated online! We were thrilled with that good news!! We had already planned to take the last week of June off from work for some much needed R&R and they were able to get us on the install schedule for then. So much for R&R right? As far as a hutch or buffet table, it will just have to speak to me. We will wait until the floors are done and move the table in before we decide what will work in the room. I am not opposed to doing a refurb on a thrifted piece! I will post pictures of the progress as it happens. Stay tuned LOL. Comments (23)I've never tried taking THAT much apple cider vinegar - I only slurp like a half a TEASPOON! or a third of a capfull. I've heard of people that simply mix it in a glass of water and drink it and others that sprinkle it onto white bread and eat the bread. I can usually slurp it out of the cap just fine. I have found that once you open the bottle for the first time the vinegar kinda ages and the flavor improves (it becomes richer and less harsh). Since I wrote my response I have had another bout of freaky pains that took me to the hospital. I didn't think it was a heart attack, I thought it was something like a torn artery or vein. Extreme shooting pains from the center of my back radiating out to my sholder while I was walking the dog (like I do every morning). I got myself to the nearest hospital and explained to them that I have a hiatal hernia and that the pains could be connected to the three slices of pizza I ate late in the evening the night before and the fact that I had rolled over in my sleep and slept on my stomach. They listened but thought it was something more severe. They ran all the tests and everything came up clean, so they had no explanation for what was wrong. The pain went away in like an hour but since this was a large hospital I ended up staying there most of the day waiting for tests or test results before they would release me. I guess I will forever have this problem. But it only seems really bad once every 10 years so I think I can handle that....See MoreUpdates after a hiatus
Comments (26)Funky, I think you are very wise to put the word "bad" in quotes, as if you hesitate to use the word. I hesitate to use the word as I get older and see more and more, as you and Amy note, how so much growth and enrichment comes from opening up to shall we say, "challenges" that present. Resisting challenges and calling them "bad" experiences only prevents us from receiving the gifts they surely bear, eventually. It seems that while a "charmed" life that doesn't encounter too many bumps in the road is regarded as the ultimate "prize," the true "prizes" of life, such as depth, compassion, wisdom, growth, are only won through meeting our challenges, facing our fears. The celebrity culture, advertising world and the media do not tell us this. The perfect life, according to them, is smooth and blemish free. To heck with personal growth! I admire how you are pursuing a different path. Here is an old Chinese proverb I posted when my sister was diagnosed with breast and lung cancer recently. I hope you like it! Comments (3)Agreed with Dave on all points, i've seen plant toxicity after a strong Neem concoction was applied. It does not do too much for bacterial spot on peppers in my experience (i alternated Neem for at least 2 years in the past, it was def better than using nothing though). It will kill Japanese beetles after they've ingested sprayed pepper leaves. As for Fungus gnats, i've had previous encounters in my seed trays. The most long lasting solution i've tried is Mosquito Dunks. Break one apart into a gallon of water, shake well & let it sit overnight, then soak your potting soil thoroughly. It takes a couple of weeks and multiple soakings because of their two week life cycle, but you'll never see them again. Dunks employ a certain bacteria so if your tap water is heavy with chlorine/chloramines then neutralize it first with a few drops of lemon juice (Ascorbic acid or Sodium Ascorbate, etc).
