Printing a picture from Facebook

How do I do it? I tried "Print", no luck. Tried selecting the picture, no luck.

I have a new HP Envy 5540 all-in-one printer, copier, scanner.

I right click the pic, then once its larger, save as, then you work with it from your computer photos.

Try downloading it first. There is usually an option to download when you click the 'Options' link on the bottom right...

I just use my Snipping Tool--my favorite thing on the computer. You just "snip" the picture, and then you can either save it to your computer or paste it into a word program. Easy peasy!

when you go to photobucket right at the top you can select where you want to get the picture from it says as one selection the web choose that option and then just paste it's url into the blank and it will do it's thing. You can do several at a time too, and also right there at the bottom of that box it allows you to pick a size for your picture, say you want to use it for an avatar choose tiny, or to post on a forum so it does not take up as much space you could choose a smaller size. I just made it a habit many years ago not to hotlink, I have my own websites and see it happening and it really just is not a nice thing and you never know when the person will replace that picture with something um not so pretty LOL. Plus now with all the hosting sites it is not necessary. by the way I also use imageshack and it too lets you choose if you want to upload from your pc or the web.

You would be far better off saving the image to your hard drive then printing it. Right click on the attachment and selcet to save. Then open it in Paint or what other graphics editor you may have.

I have iPhoto. From what I have found (and been able to understand on the internet), computer screens only have 72 dpi and so that is what Mac sends photos in. If this is the case, how do professional photographers send photos over the internet? And that to get a good quality print, you need to print at 300 to 600 dpi. But my printing program does not ask for dpi. It only asks for size of print and even then won't print that size. For instance, when I put in that I want a 5 x 7 print, it will print 4 x 7 and cut off a head in the picture as well! I have the Canon MX870 series printer. And the manual is talking about PNG files, and I don't know what that is. I thought my camera only worked with jpeg or RAW files. I have learned that working in RAW files won't degrade the image on storing it like jpeg files do, but I would need to get new software. And this book I have says the jpeg files should be good enough for ordinary pics. And the manual is also talking about the camera needing to be a Pictbridge compatible device and I have no idea if the Canon 480 D is. This is getting way too complicated for me. I wish I had brought my little Pentax with regular film on vacation with me. People on another forum are advising me to upload pics to a Walgreen site and have them print them. But if the Mac only sends pics at 72 dpi, what good does that do?

I finally got the photos printed. I was getting bad prints when I printed directly from iphoto (the pics look sharp in the monitor when viewed in iphoto but print fuzzy). The only resizing I did was to try to get a 5 x 7, but I wasn't able to- got a almost 4 x 7. The printer has a Easy photo print program that cannot access photos on iphoto. So I exported the photos I wanted into a file called Pictures that the EAasy print program could access. Then I was able to request a 5 x 7, and the print was much clearer. I don't know what happens when I exported the photo, but it seems that printing directly from iphoto gives me very poor pictures. I did upload pics to Target for them to print, and did it directly from iphoto. I haven't received them even tho it has been a week. I wonder if Target is getting very poor picture quality from the iphoto program too. I didn't know about Show photo info. What file size do I want to get a clear print?

I do it like JoAnn_Fla does. Different computers must work differently. I've never seen or heard of a 'Snipping Tool', but it sounds like it must work very similarly to the 'save as', or maybe 'copy and paste'. Would like to know more about that.

Tap or click directly on the picture in the feed this should open it separately on that one right click and save the image to the computer . Go to the saved picture and print it from there under file at the top and print . I am sure there are other methods but that's how I was able to help my friend do it on her Facebook .

To "save as" you right-click on something, then choose "save as" from the pop-out menu, then determine your destination. To "copy and paste" you need to first select something, then you can press Ctrl-C to copy it, then go to your destination and press Ctrl-V to paste it.

The Snipping Tool was introduced with Windows Vista. Windows 7, 8, and 10 all have it, too. In Windows 7 (which I use) it's in "Accessories." Once you've activated it, you get a "crosshairs" symbol on your screen that you move around with your cursor. This serves as the "framing" for the area you want to snip. Place the crosshairs at the beginning point, then left-click on your mouse (presuming you are right-handed) and hold the button down as you drag the mouse to expand the area until you have framed what you want to capture. The snipped area will then appear in a window and you can edit it, highlight portions, draw on the area, etc., and you can save the snip, send it to someone, etc.

To save a picture in Facebook you have to click on it so that it opens separately. From there you 'save image as' etc.

The quality of the print might not be very good if it is a 72PPI JPEG.

I agree that FB photos suck - too small, lower resolution. But OP was not asking for my opinion, I think...

Lindsey, thank you for explaining the snipping tool for me. I have Windows 10, had 8 before that. So I went looking for the snipping tool. There is no 'Accessories' listed as it used to be, but when I did a search for it, it brought up a box that opened the tool. Looks like it will be fun to use! Now I'm wondering how many other things this PC has that I haven't discovered yet because I don't know to look for them. Something new learned again, always a good thing.

Oh, and thanks for explaining the 'save as' and the 'copy and paste'. I am very familiar with them, use them often but there may be others here that don't know and can benefit from your post.

If you click on the picture, it should take you to another page with a bigger picture. On that page you should be able to right click and have a menu pop up which will give you the option of copying the picture to put on another page (I use that feature to get picture to go along with a recipe) or to "save picture as" and you can save it to wherever you store pictures on your computer.
