New and very excited!!!!!!!!!!
Comments (6)For a good first experience I strongly recommend using a STRONG recipe that will harden quickly. Most failures are due to pots crumbling from being removed for molds to early. A strong quick setting recipe is the solution. Recipe should be between 1/3 and 1/4 FRESH Portland cement, no less. And use an Admix for your first few attempts. Elmers wood glue will work, or you can buy an Acrylic admix for about $5 a quart or less. If you have some old latex paint around use that. If you replace around a 1/3 of your water with any of these your project will be stronger and setup faster. Even 10% admix makes a noticable difference. As you gain in experience you can leave the admix out. But for the excited newbie a bit of admix can be the difference between success and failure....See MoreMy first wintersowing project! Tips? Comments (39)Thank you so much docmom for basically holding my hand so far! lol i watered the seed trays in the greenhouse today :) there was condensation and some seemed dried out a little...and omg, i bought like 3 or 4 books on seed saving and seed planting different seeds. the one contains info on planting alot of different varieties and care on each plant and i keep it close with me when new seeds arrive!! I also can not wait to attempt to save more varieties this year and have much more to offer in fall if all goes right!! I've also informed several family members, if this all goes good, i might have extras to give away. also might do some flemarket or yarden sales in the future...I really love gardening and I'm so glad I am taking time to do a hobby that I love so much again! I would love to find a job in gardening in the future or just to sell a few plants at fleamarkets and stuff. The garden is fun but it's also more enjoyable when you have people ooo and ahhhh over your plants and are asking you questions or ideas. :) : ) :) Thank you so much! ~michael P.S. Even without sprouts, I am thoroughly enjoying this new project and experience!...See MoreOT: So excited have to share something
Comments (31)Lol Mary graduation was the last day I wore that stupid hat too. I did wear whites to work a lot but I could never keep that dang hat on my head and so very happy to not ever have to put it on again, lol. We had to wear it every day in school and every time I bent over mine fell off, lol. Can you believe I had just had a baby 2 weeks before that pic was taken? I was so afraid he would come in the middle of my board exam, lol. I started having labor pains that day and nearly didn't finish it. They wouldn't let us take our class pic until the results were in. We started out with a class of 54 and only about 10 of us made it. We sure had some tough teachers, lol. Turns out three of us sisters are nurses and the one that wasn't has a daughter thats a nurse, lol. Guess that runs in the family too. I also found out today the bone and joint problems do too. One of them has had both knees replaced and other both shoulders and they both have bad backs. Find out some good things and some bad things, lol. I sure hope that chiropractor can get me straight for this trip. I want to feel good while I'm there so badly! I love New Orleans. Guess I'll have to drink plenty of hurricaines then I won't know the difference, lol. Looks like we all like to go to casinoes too. Gotta get a car fixed and sold before we go so I will have some spending money....See MoreVery, very OT--genealogy
Comments (24)FREE Web sites for genealogy research: rootsweb.ancestry.com--forums organized by surname, locality, and other topics such as royal ancestry, etc., originally not affiliated with ancestry, but it is STILL free, and has archived posts going back to the 1990s. usgenweb.org subdivides by states and counties, also message boards where inquiries can be posted. genealogy.com has free surname and locality forums. familysearch.org contains the LDS church's International Genealogy Index, formerly only available on microfiche at branch Family History Libraries. cyndislist.com has a wealth of websites/links on many, many genealogy subjects. Treasure Maps website: google the name to get the right address, because it's one of those sub-sub-sub-divided ones that I'll probably screw up. Also, google the surname, and/or an entire name, alone or combined with terms like "family" and genealogy. If it's a name other than Smith or Jones, misspell it in creative ways. My great-grandfather's surname (Braman) was misspelled on the census as late as the 1930s! As far as Ancestry goes, I subscribe to the United States option, almost solely because of access to scanned images of the US Census. Looking at microfilm using a viewer left me dizzy and nauseated:b. You can search or browse the records, and enlarge the image to decipher handwriting. To me, it is worth the price, but that's a personal decision. Other than that, I have found some useful info in the paid databases, but not a whole lot. All Censuses are available at the regional branches of the National Archives, on microfilm. Sorry this is so lengthy, but this IS the heavily edited version, LOL....See MoreHolly Webster(7bNC)
