Please help me choose grout color ASAP!!!
Comments (6)I'm sorry i'm can't help you. But, I would love to see photos of your cabinets as well as your backsplash when it's done. I plan to paint my cabinets a greyish/sage (most likely) with white tile and I was wondering the same thing. White or gray grout? I'm leading towards gray. Somewhere around here someone has a picture posted of white subway tile with (pewter? i think) grout. It looked great! If you could post pics I'd love it! Hoping to buy my paint and tiles next week! :) Lisa...See MoreHELP! Bailing on Carrera tile at last minute - how crazy is this?
Comments (18)Thanks for your thoughts...it just goes to show there are lots of ways to do this kitchen. I do really like that tile with Organic White but too cold overall for me...and I don't love it with the fabric but my designer does. She fired me today. She is frustrated because she is "not getting to design". I chose not to bring up the fact that since day one I have been saying I want a white kitchen and ever since that she has been trying to talk me out of it. She also hates my farm table - says it's "been done". She wants me to do an industrial table - (IMHO, also "been done" ) and I did flirt with the whole marble/industrial look but in the end, not for me. Ooops, wrong person to guide me. So the moral of this story seems to be..."To Thyself be True"...but don't do it with Buttermilk Ceasarstone. I think everyone is right - it will look dirty with the white - I am now thinking Organic White or Blizzard -the two whites I loved from the beginning. I am going to find a tile that I can get quickly. Yes, forgive my former designer, a white tile. Then, after a few less painless decisions, (hardware, stools...), before I get my kitchen back, I will get my life back. Can't wait!...See MoreLast minute change? Help!!
Comments (9)My main concern on the width of the counter to the left of the sink (I think I will give it a name so I don't have to keep typing that) is that the range hood did not look balanced in the space. I tend to err on the side of form over function. Lisa, I have no idea how I came up with my finishes, I think I fell in love with them individually and am hoping they all look good together. Dumb, I know. And, as each item is installed it looks just a little bit different than I imagined. So, my floor is limestone, base cabinets are painted BM Natural Cream, pantry cab, refrigerator cab and two china cabinets are all stained rift cut white oak and the counters are 2cm Calacata Oro, Island will be a industrial wrought iron base with a 2" piece of regular white oak, maybe distressed a bit. The window in the kitchen is three french casements painted black (I really wanted steel framed windows) with cremone bolts. Here is my floor, it's showing yellow/orange in the photo, but is really a gray brown color. Have you seen this kitchen, it's gorgeous! I think I've seen every kitchen with rift cut oak on the internet. Let me know if you have any other questions. I will upload a photo of the finished oak later today. My marble, refrigerator, window and range are all being installed Monday and Tuesday. I can't wait to see your kitchen!...See MoreHello I have a browning sod dilemma and need help ASAP!!!!
Comments (4)Deep breaths. :-) Yeah, this whole thing is a pain in the butt, isn't it? We're both stuck at home--a diabetic and me, with atrial fib and atrial arrhythmia. Either of us gets this and it's problematic. And I have to go for an ultrasound next Friday--I'm wearing trash clothes I paint in, a P-95 mask, gloves, and my lab coat I use for lye mixing, then throwing everything in the washer when I get home and heading straight for the shower. Wish me luck. We're shopping once a month when we need our meds and otherwise living off canned goods. I've learned an appreciation for canned spinach. I'm sorry to hear about your child, and that you lost your job. I'm out of work at the moment (they're going to take me back as soon as the county reopens, probably in June, though!) First things first. As noted, sod must stay damp, and works best if planted in soil, so browning would be expected. Keep it damp at all times. Urine is going to be way too strong for the sod--it's effectively a really, really strong nitrogen fertilizer. Right after Fido pees, you're going to want to flush the urine out of the sod with at least four times as much water as the volume of the pee--literally until it runs out of the sod and flows away. I don't know how realistic that is on your deck, as it might lead to it running off and hitting somebody else's deck. What you're trying to do is get it below the root systems of the sod until the sod has time to root into the soil (in normal soils). Otherwise, burning the sod would be the normal result. Tigereye's idea is a good one, or fake grass might also work if your dog will adjust to it. That, at least, won't burn and won't confuse the dog into thinking it's something from indoors. You might also simply try an old waste towel from inside and washing it as necessary in the sink if the dog will adjust to it....See Morelkplatow
