If it's for the teen's room, I would let the teen have some fun by choosing the color. If you're afraid he/she will go too far outside the box, let him/her choose and then work on ringing it in by lightening it or using a similar color that's a few shades lighter.

I was thinking navy. What constitutes "too much color"?

I like typically warm Tuscany colors, not really a blue person but Navy has me thinking. I was thinking of Valley Forge BM but not sure with a mocha sofa and tan rug....

I like navy w/tan very much! I think that would be a fabulous choice for a unisex teen media room. I would get some great graphic navy/white pillows for the sofa to negate the hunting lodge effect. Is your trim white? That would look so fresh!

The navy is growing on me...I have nothing blue in my house all very brownish tan colors with lots of green.....I didn't want to have such a color shock with the blue but I feel it could be warm. Would you do stick with light wood color blinds or tan Curtains/tan blinds? Also what color pictures, would you throw in red?

Can you post a picture of your room? That will help me visualize. Navy walls can look very fresh & nautical...or they can go cozy if you use your warmer woods and tans. Red would look great with it either way!

Got it thank you! I uploaded a picture of the room, under idea books/wish list, I hope you can view it, the tan sofa chaise lounger has not arrived.

Now that I see the picture, I'm even more in the navy camp. But what do the kids think? Navy, red or maroon, white and brown would be super. Or you could go totally with a light cream and do the colors as accents with pillows and curtains. That's a safer route if resale is much of an issue.
