Need help picking out rugs for my Great Room
Comments (12)uh oh, I'll try to find them again! might be later or tomorrow, though. eta: Okay, I took a minute to look for the large one. I was courtesy shopping last night and didn't know your size or budget, so just tried to find something that I thought might work with your furniture and had some red, but would be bright in your space...a long explanation for why this is likely too expensive :-) But if you like the style, search for isfahan persian rug. They have many. http://esalerugs.com/red-10x13-isfahan-persian-rug-110910227 eta: here's the runner http://esalerugs.com/red-6-ft-runner-liliyan-persian-rug-22353470...See MoreHelp me pick out a coffee table color for my living room!!
Comments (14)That's where I'm struggling, it's hard for us to do everything at once so we will probably have to replace one thing at a time...As much as I would love to do it all now lol. It is a work in progress but we are trying to at least have a plan so we know what we will get when we can get it. I'm not not good at this. The coffee table looks a little worse in person because it is really old and it doesn't while up well. My daughter does have a habit of doing art, eating snacks and spilling apple juice and you can tell and it's pretty noticeable as much as we try to scrub it lol...See MoreHelp me pick out a rug, cushions, and other decor for my living room!

Comments (4)There are a few tricks to use to bring make more light (appear) in the room. Lighting is crucial, so don't treat it as an afterthought. Before you do or get anything, have a plan. Measure twice, buy once. In the living room, put the ceiling light on a dimmer. A ceiling light in the living room does not make for an intimate living room experience. I prefer no ceiling light there, and instead - a tale lamp or wall sconce at chest height. I love a well lit room, so I go a bit nuts with the lighting! Other things you can do: put a mirror on the wall - only if there is a nice reflection. Put glass or mirror table tops - only if that goes along with your decor. Other places you can put mirrors are on lamp bases. Don't overdo it, but you are on the right track with bright colors. I have a dark living room also, and I have a lot of color in my oversized wall art (go big or go home!) I can't tell from the pictures, but some of them look like the walls are a cool color and some look warm. Be very careful if you plan on repainting the walls. It makes a lot of difference. I really like Nick Lewis on youtube on that topic. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0KDnuPfuro0&t=61s Please no gray couch. How about a medium brown? Gray is a cool color and has been overdone in the past five years....See Moregoldperry
