Oven roasted vegs...blanch first?

I'm going to be having friends over for dinner ... a leisurely afternoon with snacks and such and then an early dinner, and I don't want to have to spend a lot of time fussing with food while they're here.

I was thinking of doing oven roasted veggies, but typically, to get them to come out right, you have to roast different ones for different lengths of time.

I was wondering, if I blanch them ahead of time so they are all crips tender and then roast them at the last minute with the olive oil and spices to add the crunch, would that work?

Or would it just undo the whole point/flavor of roasting.
