Why do most sushi / sashimi rolls have avocado and cucumber?
MY DH loves seafood, but not raw, is OK with cooked rice, but thinks avocado (guaca-yucka) and cucumber (only for pickles) are not real food items he'd want to eat in a meal so I have been making sushi just for me, like sashimi with fresh tuna, California rolls, Tamago, and enjoying them without him. I think he is missing the delicate flavors that sushi and sashimi offer so I am looking for inspiration from you and to not have to make two dinners! And, all without the dreaded avocado or cucumber.
I caught and smoked some lovely salmon that he would eat with just a fork and some mayo/salt/pepper. Is there a smoked salmon oll that I could make that doesn't have the ingredients that he doesn't like?
What other sushi / sashimi treats would he be inclined to eat? If I tell him what is in the stuff I make he may balk. Me? I eat everything!
