Can I see your rug on your masterbedroom hardwoods?
Comments (9)Thanks for the kind words. This is my dining room and entry hall. The rug is similar. Okay, it's the same rug, only this is the room it really belongs in. It's upstairs now because it would have gotten ruined during my kitchen remodel. The rug there in the entry is my favorite, a "double eagle" pattern kazak. The wool in it is twice as good as the stuff in the bigger rug. (it's a work in progress; meaning, if it ever is finished, it's a miracle)...See MoreCan I see your wall colors w/ Oak Trim?
Comments (6)Seaswirl, I think part of the reason that cream in the picture looks so good is because of the lighting, however in your room that color could come across really different. It may be better to just pick up swatches of soft cream colors with varied tints in them to find out which one works best in your space. My favorite cream color is Raffia Cream by Behr, Creamy White by Benjamin Moore is pretty too....See MoreCan I see your BM Dijon room?
Comments (1)mollie, our family/keeping room in our previous house was a colour very close to BM Dijon. Unfortunately, I have no photos of it that I can find. The room was decorated in greens, reds and blues, all of approximately the same colour value. The two sofas were slipcovered in green ticking, and I had Pierre Deux pillows in a mustard-y Soledad print on one sofa and a the same print in blue on the other sofa, a bokhara rug in corals, greens and a bit of blue, an English secretary in scrubbed pine, a painted yellow cabinet with a painted mirror hanging above, a long low Asian elm bench in front of a red-brick fireplace, and an off-white distressed English coffeetable in an interesting shape with a shelf underneath. I had a photo my father took of Shakespeare's home in Stratford on Avon enlarged and framed over one of the sofas, which were at right angles to each other. The only other seating (besides the 2 sofas and fireplace bench) was an occasional chair in red and white toile. It was a very cheerful room and was next to a mostly white kitchen (white cabinetry and corian counters) and the whole floor of the house had a medium-to-dark oak flooring. There were no window treatments, just 2" plantation shutters on all the windows. This was an older house with 10' ceilings and 10" crown moldings....See MoreI'm loving these colors! Can I see your 'gray' living rooms?
Comments (15)birdlover6--I just always thought neutrals were boring. Now I see them as tranquil, and as great backdrops for colorful furniture, paintings, etc. Also I moved from an old house with lots of character to a new one. I had it painted before we moved in (big mistake--I should have waited, even though it's more of a hassle) and I guess I thought bright colors would give it personality. I do like some of the colors. A small study is apple green with white molding and built-in bookcases. My bedroom is C2 silk which is a gorgeous blue grey and my bathroom is C2 Mistral a deep greyish purple, and another bedroom is aquarium, a gorgeous C2 green. I wouldn't change any of those rooms. But living room, dining room, foyer, kitchen, and maybe family room (currently yellow) could use a beautiful gray palette....See Moresis2two
