Can I see your rug on your masterbedroom hardwoods?

Can I see the rug your have on your masterbedroom hardwoods or do you just have the bare floor? I am trying to decide what to do. How much floor to cover up? What sort of rug, etc?

If you mean the one with the marble white island and blue backsplash. I think it is from House Beautiful but keep in mind it was a google image found from a kitchen blog. We just installed hardwood flooring in the downstairs/upstairs hall and MBR in our home...for 14 stair treads it was going to be over 700 bucks! So instead we used some of the hardwood we had leftover. I actually found a place online that sold unfinished nosing for 1.97 a linear foot...amish made. We ordered that...added some white risers (made out of whiteboard)...and voila...new stairs...the corners were a little hard to miter on a 45 as was the stair nosing and it was a very consuming project! I still have the last coat of white paint to go on the risers..I can post pics tonight! We have the half open stairs (one side of stairs is wall, the other side banister, open to LR). Not sure if you were looking at revamping with hardwood or carpet?

We have all cream colored walls, and solid chairs and sofas all in the brown and tan family...Except for a outrageous red chair in our family room. I love the splashes of red with the tans and Browns. I love pillows and dress up the chairs and sofas with pillows. Heck, even our throw pillows have throw pillows.. including our DR chairs they have throw pillows as well. :) Most of them are needlepoint with some tapestry pillows. I change them around often. I have many in reserve. I also love animal prints. This is the LR and DR area. The family room has a leather sofa recliner, Two leather chairs, a red chair and yup, lots of throw pillows.

Yes he was cutting costs and doing it the cheaper way. Quarter round is used all the time and not to hide a bad job. It serves a purpose. You can definitely keep filling in the caulk but it's going to be a never ending process because the nature of the wood floor is expanding and contracting. Plus you should find out exactly what caulk was used so you use the same kind and color. They don't always adhere well to each other. Depending on the gaps between the base board and floor once the caulk is removed would determine if you can leave it as is or if the gaps are not something you want to live with then look at the alternatives including quarter round. There are other trims that can be used instead of quarter round some are smaller, some have a design like a rope etc. Any of those would be nailed to the base board not the floor and caulking the seams of the joints is the norm not to the floor. You may be able to just remove the caulk and be OK.

Hi, Lynn. Do you mean the taupe-colored quilt? It's white embroidery on a flax-colored quilt. I bought it at RH years ago. It's getting a little shabby now, and I'd love to replace it with the same thing, but RH doesn't carry it any more. The bedskirt is a taupe linen, and the light blue bedcover and shams are matelasse.

Hi,
This is a kazak, about 10x14. The floors are typical 1900 yellow pine. Yes my ceilings are low but I had to have a poster bed. It's a guy thing...

Sorry Mollie I have wall-to-wall in my MBR. But I need to ask Casey/sombreuil_mongrel---do you have more pictures of your home to share?! Your bedroom is BEATIFUL and you have the same trim around your doors that I do and I never knew it could be so breaktaking. I love your room. It looks so rich to me. Thanks for sharing.

This is my dining room and entry hall. The rug is similar. Okay, it's the same rug, only this is the room it really belongs in. It's upstairs now because it would have gotten ruined during my kitchen remodel. The rug there in the entry is my favorite, a "double eagle" pattern kazak. The wool in it is twice as good as the stuff in the bigger rug.
(it's a work in progress; meaning, if it ever is finished, it's a miracle)
