ceiling fan light is open, can see down into it from balcony
Comments (1)Hampton Bay is a Home Depot brand and made by various manufactures in China. So unless you travel to China the only place to get parts is HD. But you may be able to retrofit a down-facing light from another manufacturer. The wiring is going to be bascially the same, the connectors are probably not, but you can cut those off and wire it directly. The fixture will be attached to the bottom of the light fixture and you may need to drill holes and bolt it on. The problem is getting access to it. But if you installed it I assume you can get it back down. If that is too much you may be able to get some screen material and fashion a cover, but that will retain heat. I assume bulb replacement is a pain too at that height. My old place had a two story stairwell with a hanging fixture. The only way for me to replace the bulb was to use a long stick with a hook to grab the fixture and pull it to the balcony and stretch over the railing and replace the bulb. It sure was a dusty fixture because it hardly ever got dusted!...See Moretook down ceiling fan to paint, can't remember how wires conn
Comments (3)Thanks for the comment, but I'm already saying that to myself. There is one switch on the wall. It turns on the fan. IF I want to turn the fan off and leave the light on, I can do it at the fan only, with the pull chain. Same goes for the light if I want only fan. All turns off at the single switch at the wall. My big problem is the green wire. What could it have been attached to on the fan? if it was at all. Thanks...See Morehelp... can't get large base corner unit down to basement
Comments (8)Yay.... the 2 corner units finally made it in the house and down to the basement. (they had been sitting outside, tarped, in this 15 degree weather... brrr) My guys cut the toe kick off and moved them down, but by the time i got home they were all reassembled and i couldn't really tell the difference (at least nothing that won't be covered by the molding :) thanks for all the advice! another gardenweb success :)...See MoreTwo fans on same circuit in different rooms, can't get wiring right
Comments (1)Was this working and then you pulled it apart and can't figure out how to put it back together? Are you trying to just use a regular switch? I'm a little confused about what you are calling a "common slot" and "my other two slots". I diagram would be helpful. Maybe a picture. Are you sure that the 1st set is the incoming power? How can the 3rd set go to the ceiling box when the ceiling box doesn't have a red wire?...See MoreNavy Momma
