You'll all appreciate a good kitchen gadget. I have always, forever, bought the real cheap screen-style splatter screens for skillets. They invariably come apart from the thin rim.

Today we bought a real doozy, a stainless-steel contraption made by Calphalon. It fits 8, 10 and 12" skillets, which I love. This one won't fall apart!!

It works great! I used it tonite and I was watching the steam go out the window and up the vent. Hubby says it's washes up slick as anything. He's the dishwasher.

Have you tried it? Wondering if it would not let enough steam out and your "stuff" would steam....and you will be back to the cheapies.
I bought a "wonderful thing"....at the thrift store! LOL! My antique round cast iron griddle broke and I have not found another.....I know Lodge....but they are not like my old one...sob!
Well I found a very heavy stainless square flat, very shiny griddle...flat top...whatever! About 12 inches square.
I am in love! Perfect for 4 small pancakes...or one pretty big one,2 grilled cheese sandwiches and warming a tortilla.

Amazing the things that make us happy!

Thanks all. I'm really excited. I've been wanting to do something like this for years, but it's only recently that work has let me stay local long enough to make even a brief commitment. Darn...I was looking forward to some pictures of the new windows and I'm sure you were looking forward to taking them! As for the Freedom, if you can believe this...it's a FREE cruise. My husband doesn't agree (LOL) because he earned it for being numero uno salesperson at work. We were able to book a wrap around balcony on deck 7. Don't know the name of the deck. I've always wanted to try a wrap around and I'm so excited about it! It's an 8 day cruise so I'll be able to spend lots of time on that balcony and trust me...I will! Still can't wait to see pics of your new windows. I'm sure they will be so awesome, Glenda! Eileen

Looks sturdy. You can always drill out the holes if needed. Should take an evening. Think of it like quilting, but noisier.
