Would you/do you compost canned items?
Comments (12)A good Friend of mine ran a canning factory, it was his families canning factory for years and years. (Sadly they are gone out of business now, purchased by a larger canning factory and shut down) What he always told me, most canned goods are safe as long as the traditional lack of bulging of the container, and when opened if it still smells good (no strange odor), He further explained for dated products as time passes beyond that, the product will still be safe and edible But, the taste can degrade over time. He further added use common sense, there are a few products that just absorb all the liquids over time, you will open them and they will be dry or clumped together, and not necessarily unhealthy but for certain unappealing! So it is often trust your nose and judgment the product will remain "safe" for a long time for the most part!...See MoreJust ordered from Vintage - What can you tell me about these?
Comments (4)Elie Beauvilain -- Blooms are beautiful, but my patience is at an end. If she doesn't do something exciting VERY soon, this rose will be gone. All two feet of her. It's been close on five years. Perhaps she will love Texas heat. Gilbert Nabonnand -- It took him a good four years to really establish, but he is finally a graceful plant of some four feet, which covers itself in opalescent blooms. In coastal Southern California, he's a winner. Le Pactole -- This rose was returned to commerce, having been discovered in Sonora by Botanist and Rosarian Fred Boutin. I LOVE IT! I saw it first in the Sacramento City Cemetery, where it is at least 8 ft. tall. The bloom color is very like Lamarque, but the form is different. Twisting ribbon-like petals give it a unique look. Le Pactole may take a while to mature, but once it does, it's a winner. Radiance -- It has been said of the Radiance clan that they can be grown successfully in any place where civilized man (or woman!) has managed to live. That's probably no exaggeration. They are disease-free, beautiful, and vigorous. I have Red Radiance, and intend to get Radiance. Lady Anne Kidwell -- Among my favorite Poly-Teas. A graceful plant which can get big if not pruned. Disease-resistant in California. Blooms in volume. You won't regret this one. Sprays are very open (this is not a prospect for rose shows -- judges hate it). Blooms remind me of softly-tied cerise satin ribbons. Jeri...See MoreWhat is your one 'go to' Christmas item you use year after year
Comments (7)Wow! Great bargains! Red plates would be a good addition! My one "go-to" item that I use for Christmas is the Holy Family I made in ceramics class back in the mid-70's. It was greenware that I cleaned & painted & then the teacher fired it in a kiln. I love it because it was made after the birth of our own son. Here's a close-up view of it a couple yrs ago: And then here it is this yr (evening photo) on top of china cabinet: Thanks, swest, for starting this thread! & for sharing! Comments (13)Hi Ya Denni !! Say a Home Ownner, like you, wanted to know what clips work and what ones don't what would you like to hear >> ipe extreme are flimsley, easy to rout out the ss insert, very costley in material and labor where as the Tiger Claw clips are very strong, easy to install and require no pre drill >> Or some of the clips work and some of them dont A HO want's the facts from Folk's who installed and were livid with the results and from Pro's who have already found the anwser. Now how is this to be done with out clearly listing the material ????? After many years in the Decking Business there are some suppliers I and all other Pros are going to stick with, for good reason. They Are Good . Would you like to know who they are and why we like them ?? Of course you would. How is this going to be done without spelling out who they are and where they are ??? When A person know's what they are doing in the Building Business the project is already pictured clearly before any work takes place. This is Arrogance not Insolence. I clearly see the differance between selling drugs, handbags, imported flux capatistors and listing supplier/contractor sites. Building info is what this site is all about. If I had a job on my site that was Exactley what you,Denni Girl, were looking to build in your back yard would you like to see it ??? Sure you would. Now if I said I could build it for You for so much $ and give me a call That would be out of line. See the differance ?? That is the point of this Post. JonMon...See MoreKathie738 P
