Sinks: Blanco vs. Kindred vs. Franke
Comments (28)Probably a little late to comment, but just about rear drains and disposals - I have a big, honkin' Kitchenaid batch feed disposal; it's one of the largest disposals on the market. I also have a rear drain. There was no problem installing it. But I think it depends on each individual set-up. Perhaps Tko_in_Fl's sink is in such a position that it wouldn't fit a disposal with a rear drain, while mine would. I think her KD shouldn't have made such a broad generalization, unless he/she was just talking about Tko_in_Fl's particular set-up. It looks like Tko_in_Fl realized that, and I think it's a great idea to check out her setup and measurements herself - the KD is not always right, as we have seen reported on this Forum several times. BTW, my sink is 9" deep, plus the countertop, and I have never felt it was too deep. Although I am a neatnik, and keep the sink pretty much empty most of the time, on those times when I have pots soaking, I am glad not to be able to see them. We have an eat-in kitchen, and I wouldn't like to see some greasy stock pot soaking in the sink while I am trying to drink my morning coffee! So the deeper sink prevents that. But I have read on this forum that taller people may find deep sinks fatigueing. No one in my family has had that problem, but I am really the only one to spend a lot of time in front of the sink, and I am 5'3", and have never found the deep sink a problem. The only comment I have about the brands in the subject thread is that the Franke is a shinier finish than the Kindred or Blanco which are more brushed. The shinier finish is very pretty, but will show the scratches more glaringly, until it develops a "patina", which could take some months. But a lot of people prefer the shinier finish, it's personal taste....See Morewhich Sink is best prolific vs blanco/quatrus vs franke/peak vs galley
Comments (32)rosaserai - I do love it. It takes another minute to clean due to the ledges. Totally worth it. Hasn't scratched. I use the grates daily for drying. I use the strainer weekly. I use the cutting board mostly when we have company to cut sliced fruit for drinks - it is small and we have a large butcher block for other items. The basin is great for washing fruit - double up the strainer and then drain. Could the angle be a tiny tad more for better draining - maybe. I do have to chase some chunks to get them down the disposal. Could the white on the accessories not stain as much - yes. But a scrub with steel wool has removed all discoloration. Could the cutting board be bigger - yep. But would I get the sink again - ABSOLUTELY. I've had it 4 years and will put the same one in the next house....See MoreRohl Allia vs Blanco Profina vs Franke Farm House Sink?
Comments (9)I have had a blanco profina for over a year. I really like it. Haven’t had any issues with cracking. I do have a garbage disposal. The ledge is nice for chopping, and I have a dish drainer that sits on the ledge also. I use a rack in the bottom to protect from pans. Cleaning is a breeze - even easier than stainless sinks I’ve had in the past. I love the way it looks with my white cabinets and countertops. Not sure the centered drain bothers me, but it probably will now that I’ve read your post. At least it will make me think about it. Also I didn’t think I would like one big sink, but I actually do....See More20 gauge Residential vs 18 gauge Commercial Kitchen Sink: Franke
Comments (16)All wonderful suggestions and considerations. This is my first post and I am ever so grateful for the replies. I do favour the offset drain and will find out this week if it will be a fit or not, otherwise I have found this. Any thoughts? https://www.prochef.ca/en/product/model/IH75-TS-27209/ Great point about the faucet, I actually recognize that picture from a previous search of mine and I did check last night as a matter of fact our new faucet does have the ability to forward face if required. I’ve heard mixed reviews about Kohler sinks (surface rust?). I do have access to a Kohler Tocatta http://ca.kohler.com/onlinecatalog/detail.jspfrom=thumb&frm=null&module=Kitchen+Sinks&item=244202&prod_num=3348-3&section=1&category=5&resultPage=0-1849799992 and a vault but I’m not keen on the zero radius corners on the vault. I would love a Kraus sink but again amazon only sells a 33” pax (zero radius) and an two pack of 25” sinks. Really weird....See MoreM Miller
