Undermount Single bowl sink - Elkay vs Franke
Comments (14)One fact: 16 gauge is a better quality sink than 18 gauge and likely to be quieter. That accounts for some price difference. As long as the size, depth and drain placement are what's required, 16-gauge stainless sinks are a fixture where money can be saved. The x factor is whether the grid or any accessory needed is included or not. I've used a top of the line Julien sink and an 18-gauge Elkay. The maintenance is the same, they will both give a lifetime of service and they are both cleaned in the same way. The difference can be the surface finish (mirror, brushed, satin etc) and how that choice works vs expectations of how the sink should look both during use and after cleaning. Ditto on ditch the dish drainer....See MoreBlanco Diamond 'D' sink vs. Diamond rectangle sink
Comments (7)I think we have the 'D' shape, in a 30'' cabinet, for the clean-up sink. Really like it! There were plenty of moments of self-questioning and I was very worried about not having the faucet centered (the sink is centered on a bank of three windows) but we are very pleased with how it turned out. For the faucet we selected, we actually ended up cutting into the cabinet on the right, so the control valve could be installed and we also pulled the sink as far forward as possible. Just cleaned the sink the first time in a month or so since it was installed; used baking soda and it cleaned up fairly well. But... will look for something I can spray on. Guess posting pictures is like entertaining.... one way to get the cleaning done :) From Recently Updated Side note -- I love, love, LOVE the faucet (Kohler Karbon). It's such fun to use and so handy. I'm rather cranky I didn't use the same one for the prep area (what do you mean I have to pull down?!!). The single motion to adjust and keep the spray exactly where you want it is so natural....See MoreRohl Allia vs Blanco Profina vs Franke Farm House Sink?
Comments (9)I have had a blanco profina for over a year. I really like it. Haven’t had any issues with cracking. I do have a garbage disposal. The ledge is nice for chopping, and I have a dish drainer that sits on the ledge also. I use a rack in the bottom to protect from pans. Cleaning is a breeze - even easier than stainless sinks I’ve had in the past. I love the way it looks with my white cabinets and countertops. Not sure the centered drain bothers me, but it probably will now that I’ve read your post. At least it will make me think about it. Also I didn’t think I would like one big sink, but I actually do....See More20 gauge Residential vs 18 gauge Commercial Kitchen Sink: Franke
Comments (16)All wonderful suggestions and considerations. This is my first post and I am ever so grateful for the replies. I do favour the offset drain and will find out this week if it will be a fit or not, otherwise I have found this. Any thoughts? https://www.prochef.ca/en/product/model/IH75-TS-27209/ Great point about the faucet, I actually recognize that picture from a previous search of mine and I did check last night as a matter of fact our new faucet does have the ability to forward face if required. I’ve heard mixed reviews about Kohler sinks (surface rust?). I do have access to a Kohler Tocatta http://ca.kohler.com/onlinecatalog/detail.jspfrom=thumb&frm=null&module=Kitchen+Sinks&item=244202&prod_num=3348-3&section=1&category=5&resultPage=0-1849799992 and a vault but I’m not keen on the zero radius corners on the vault. I would love a Kraus sink but again amazon only sells a 33” pax (zero radius) and an two pack of 25” sinks. Really weird....See Morekitchenkelly
